An Open Apology

To Whomever This May Concern:

I apologize for stealing your Sharpie® during my current book tour.

As you can see, I couldn't help it.
It started with the one I borrowed when booksigning in Virginia but somewhere my obsession went horribly wrong.

But you see, we don't get Sharpies® in France.

And I just couldn't resist yours.

Your Sharpie® was so new and so very alluring with that perfectly tapered ink-filled tip.
So round.
So firm.
So plump.

Yes, I kept promising myself, "David...make this the last one!"

But one thing led to another.
And another Sharpie® found its way into my pocket.
Then another.

But I will make sure that your Sharpie® has a nice, cozy, and safe place in Paris.
I apologize for an inconvenience this may have caused you.

Thank you for your understanding.

Yours truly,

David Lebovitz

Sharpies & Mexican Food!!! :)

Sharpies are addictive even when they're readily available at one's neighborhood Office Max.

whats the attraction of sharpies? ive never heard of them? arent there lots of these type of markers around? what makes sharpies special?

Have you seen the mini-sharpies and the neon-rainbow ones? I've even seen ones attached to a key ring.

Ben: If you've never had the pleasure of using a freshly-opened Sharpie, you're missing out one of life's great pleasures...

The smooth tip!
The glossy black ink!
The semi-wide swatch it creates across the page!
Ahh, bliss...

Gail: Yes, I've seen those Sharpies (and even a brown one intended for covering scratches in wood furniture). I love the keychains, but I'd be afraid they would come uncapped in my pocket

next time you need fresh supply, let me know and i'll post one over from dublin! ;)

So does that mean you have a Sharpie in your pocket? I was out buying wine with a friend for a party we were headed to and she asked if I had a sharpie. I looked at her and laughed out loud-who carries Sharpies around!? I guess more people than I thought: )

Apparently not the French.
Sacré Bleu! Est-il que les Français écrivent avec une plume? Ma Foi!

Have you seen the Sharpies RT yet? RT stands for retractable tip. They click open and shut like a ball point pen so that you never have to worry about losing the cap. They are very cool.

What a funny post! My husband is always stealing pens. At first, I thought he did it by accident. However, many pens later I realized it was not only on purpose but he was quite happy when he snagged a really good one!

I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation at Sur La Table in Los Gatos. You are truly a warm, kind and funny (in a good way) man.

duh!
I only just realised you are famous.
No wonder. That explains everything to me.
I was kind of confused before.
