To celebrate the release today of my new book, The Sweet Life in Paris, the fine folks at All-Clad are giving away a brand-new 7 piece set of their magnificent stainless steel cookware!
This set includes a 2- and 3-quart saucepan, both with lids, a 10-inch frying pan, and a huge 8-quart stock pot. This is my favorite cookware (I carried mine over to Paris with me, piece-by-painstakingly-piece) and I'm thrilled they're offering a set for my readers. If you've always wanted to start or add some All-Clad to your collection, this is a great way to do it.
The book features stories about my adventures in Paris, whether learning how not to walk in a straight line...or why the roads in Paris are all intended to take you right back to where you started, how I eloquently regaled startled guests at a swank dinner party with raptures about a magnificent black, er...zizi I saw in the hills Piedmont (and I'm not talking about the famous truffe noir d'Italie), and why, when the film version of my book comes out, Daniel Craig is the foremost candidate to play me in the movie.
(Hint: It's not because of any abdominal similarities.)
Learn how I got into the thigh-high boots of the famous fish-boys, come along on my visit to Paris' only clothing-optional sock shop, and learn how I manage to dodge the right hook of a certain dame d'une certain age, who's become the love of my life.
Somehow, I managed to get nearly fifty recipes in there, with everything from the sweet to the savory, and then some. And if you're the lucky winner of this amazing, spiffy set of All-Clad cookware, you'll be cooking up a storm in your own kitchen, too.
Now excuse me, I'm off to book a trip back to Italy...
UPDATE: The contest is now closed, and the winner has been announced. Thanks to everyone for your participation! -David

Favorite ice cream: Sliced Lemon, from the Cabarrus Creamery, a nearly century-old ice cream shop (the original closed in the '90s, but has been resurrected by a new owner) near the small town in North Carolina where my mother grew up. It's rich and custardy, with paper-thin slices of lemon -- rind and all -- throughout.

At the moment I'm a big fan of simple vanilla ice cream. The late stages of pregnancy seems to be keeping me from anything more adventurous.
Such a difficult choice! Favourite has to be proper hazelnut gelato from Italy
My favorite ice cream flavor is black sesame. The first time I tried it was on a vacation to Japan in 2006, from a little 'soft cream' stand (like soft serve ice cream) on the side of the road. It was amazing and I've loved black sesame ever since!

Fresh mint ice cream in the summer... heaven!
My favorite sorbet is a tie: Cranberry or Concord Grape, I love them both so much :). New book looks great! Can't wait to read it :)
Vanilla with real vanilla speckles.
As my boyfriend puts it, I am "monomaniaque successive", that is I go crazy for one thing, have it over and over again for a couple of weeks or months, until I get totally bored of it and move to another mania. I don't know yet what's gonna be this summer hit, but last year, saffron gelato was my favorite. Peanut butter ice cream close second.
Salted caramel.. yummm. Congratulations on the new book! Can't wait to get my copy!
I've made your sour cream strawberry and it was beyond good!
Pomelo
Peppermint has always been my favorite, but if I had an ice cream maker I'd try all sorts of new combinations.
This week my favorite is the strawberry frozen yogurt from your book. That stuff is fabulous! Last week it was your ginger ice cream. That book is going to kill me....
My favorite right now is ginger. I've been eating it pretty much nonstop for the past 3 weeks. Congratulations on the new book!

Mint chocolate chip.
Congrats on the book!
Peppermint has always been my favorite, but if I had an ice cream maker I'd try all sorts of new combinations.
I was just in Istanbul and had some extraordinary sorbet and ice cream experiences. The best was a grape sorbet made from wonderful fragrant black grapes from the black sea coast at a restaurant called Changa - amazing. Had a water buffalo mastic flavoured ice cream at Muzedechanga (sister restaurant) - as crazy as it sounds! And finally I tried a chewy, stretchy, vanilla flavoured, goats milk ice cream called dondurma from a street vendor. Mastic resin, a substance called salep and kneading the ice cream make it pliable and resistant to melting. Sounds challenging, but the taste and texture were great - the vendor will even put on a show when you order it! Basically I love anything exotic!
I do like your Salted Butter Caramel quite a bit...
Or maybe a chocolate sorbet.
But chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream wins every time, I must say.
coffee ice cream, maybe with chocolate chunks or maybe just plain.
vanillia
Congrats on the book release! My favorite ice cream flavor is Mint Chocolate Chip.
What fun!
Green Tea ice cream is my all time favorite, but I do also love a good daquari sorbet on a hot summer night.

In the meantime, grapefruit sorbet (or gelato) is my favourite.
I love the exquisite taste of hazelnut gelato. I love it even more passionately when in Italy.
Mocha Chocolate Chip. MMMMM. Congrats on the book!

Looking forward to the cookbook. A decadent butter pecan with caramel sauce wins it for me. Or plain vanilla, that's for every day....

Favorite ice cream flavor: coffee.
Key lime pie ice cream! =)
Congrats on the book! I can't WAIT to read it!
I just adore All-Clad. I'd love to add to my collection. My favorite flavor of ice cream is actually vanilla with a heaping amount of cookie dough stirred in for good measure.
Vanilla with gummi bears . . .
malted milk
I would have to go with raspberry chocolate.
Looking forward to the book. I would have to say a butter pecan with caramel sauce or plain vanilla for every day.
Anything with fruit in it, really, but cherry is probably my favorite.
A lifetime ago (before kids!) I had Kona Truffle ice cream during a vacation to Hawaii... I haven't found anything so good since...
Best ice cream ever???? Homemade peach ice cream at the height of peach season. !!!!!! -John

There is a tiny glacier in Bordeaux who made FANTASTIC violet ice cream--delicious.

Mango sorbet and mint chocolate chip ice cream. I love All-Clad!

I'm pretty boring - cookies and cream is my favourite ice cream! You are probably going to kill me for this but Hagen Daas is the best option available in stores, in my opinion. :o) Don't hurt me!
I can't wait to read your book, David!
mint oreo frozen yogurt!
or, if that doesn't count, coconut sorbet. mmmmmmmm.
Right now, it's strawberry rhubarb because it's in season and so delicious! But on any other given day, I'd die for a good pistachio or chocolate!
hazelnut ice cream!
Love your blog.
I've lived in paris so it is nice to keep touch with it through your recipes and escapades!

Can't wait to read your new book!!
I am sort of boring when it comes to ice cream. I love vanilla bean.
Congrats of the new book!
I love peanut butter icecream - prefer vanilla based but would never pass up chocolate peanut butter either! :-)
All time favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip. Not the strange green stuff either. It has to be white with super dark chocolate bits in it. Nothings better then that!
I only had it once and haven't seen it since, but it left enough of an impression that I'm going to call in my favorite: pink lemonade ice cream. (Not sorbet -- ice cream!)
Raspberry sorbet....black Michigan cherry ice cream....great. Now I'm hungry!
Old-fashioned, hard-to-find, peppermint stick is my favorite...
Gelato HAS to count! (Right?) - in which case, my favorite is a flavor called zuppa inglese from Italy. I spent part of my childhood in Vicenza, Italy, and there was this place that we always passed on the way home from school - they had a lot of different gelato flavors, and I would ALWAYS, always bug my mom to get me some gelato. All I remember of it was that it was really rich chocolate, and really rich french vanilla; but to a 7 y/o child, it was the whole world - and the stuff childhood memories are made of.
Thanks, I just found an excuse to go back to Europe. lol
Congratulations on the new book! Sounds great! I will put it on my wish list.
I'm an ice cream lover so picking one flavor is tough. I love mint chip. I love chocolate. I love them all! But if I could only ever have one for the rest of my life, I'd go with classic vanilla, because you can always mix it up, dress it up or just enjoy it as is.
Lime Cardamom
my favorite is homemade green tea white chocolate with a crystallized ginger topping....
Old-fashioned, hard-to-find peppermint stick is my favorite...
Truly simple: Chocolate Hazelnut ice cream is always my first choice when given the chance... Cheers!
My very favourite sorbet flavour is Black Zapote (Diospyros digyna): Black, sweet and fragrant . . . And so full of memories. Ice cream? Well, it would probably have to be Pine Nut. Sadly, as an expat in the UK neither sorbet or ice creams come to me very often in these flavours but, if I had to choose my last dinner ice cream and sorbet, it would probably be these two. And that is that mon cheri!
Definitely Blackberry gelato.
Favorite ice cream flavor - basil . yummmmmmmmers.
Congrats on the book!
Vanilla ice cream. No, wait. Chocolate sorbet. No. Maple walnut. Raspberry sorbet! Hm. Crème fraîche? Strawberry? Blackberry. Better stick with vanilla...
Rum raisin.
cantaloupe ice cream in a sugar cone!
In case you don't win the All Clad... the factory has a semi annual scratch and dent sale coming up. June 3 and 4th at the Washington County Fairgrounds, about 45 minutes south of Pittsburgh PA. Lines are long, but the prices (40-70% off ) are worth it. They restock all day long.
We may not have Paris markets, or amazing baguettes, but we do have All Clad!
Thanks David... your blog is truly a treat.
Hmm... I've gotta say chocolate.
chocolate super fudge chunk (with chocolate covered almonds)
V excited to hear about your new book.
My fave ice cream flavour is hazelnut. Classic but stunning if made well.
I am so looking forward to reading this book!
Favorite for me --- homemade vanilla.
Have to have at least one scoop of coffee not to turn down any others at all!
Can't wait to read the book! I'm not sure I can choose an all-time favorite, but right now I'm pretty excited about the homemade mint (no extract, only mint leaves!) with shaved dark chocolate in my freezer...
Your chocolate ice cream with chocolate covered pretzels thrown in, mmm. I love your book!
Dark Chocolate with cinnamon and black pepper - yummmmmmy!
A favorite ice cream flavor? That's really tough. I love so many of them! Today I'm feeling like a good hazelnut gelato would really hit the spot.
I have been waiting for this book forever. I can't wait to get my copy and sit down to read it cover to cover. Keep up the great blogging. I know it sounds pretty dull but my favorite ice cream is vanilla.
My current fave is mango sorbet...pretty much anything with mango in it and on sale.
I've been a fan of yours, David, for a long time and, of course, a contest for a fabulous cookware set has wrenched the email address out of me. (I'm also hoping to save up for one of your chocolate tours!) Millefois merci for your humor when we could all use some.
chocolate chip cookie dough but only the cookie dough balls
Lemon custard - without the lemon candy bits - I like my ice cream completely smooth. Used to be in every freezer case. Seems to have completely disappeared. Why would they take my lemon custard away?
Your salted butter caramel ice cream definitely takes the cake - or in that case, a few hours on the treadmill :P (FYI - i still love your version of CAPTCHA - so much better)
Homemade vanilla - made with buttermilk.
Pistachio and cardamom kulfi style - kulfi counts, right?
I have so many favorite ice creams I can't begin to list them all. Salted butter caramel for this very moment, then.
I'll be honest, I'm an old-fashioned, plain kind of gal. I like a REALLY, REALLY good vanilla bean. Period.
Vanilla bean for me please!
Chocolate! (although rum raisin and Bailey's are close seconds) Can't wait to read the new book!
Passion fruit from berthillion!
Ginger ice cream for the win! The fact that it's hard to come by only adds to its appeal.
cinnamon ice cream
Homemade Mango Sorbet!!!!
I love your candied bacon ice cream, with the salted butter caramel as a close second. But, you know what they say: everything's better with bacon!
chocolate....nothing better..
peach lavender ice cream or blood orange sorbet. i couldn't pick just one :)
Rocky Road. Not the cheaters kind with marshmallow fluff swirled in but the real thing. Good rich chocolate ice cream with real mini-marshmallows and chunks of nuts.
Sour cherry frozen yogurt from The Perfect Scoop. Crazy good!
Tat is easy to answer, my favourite ice cream is Pistache ice cream.
Coconut!!
Coffee!
coffee with chocolate, but milk chocolate and black pepper is a close runner up. your recipe was fantastic!
Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip from Graeter's!!!
My favorite flavor of ice cream is Larry's Chocolate Orange, from DC. Baklava ice cream from the Black Olive restaurant in Baltimore is a close second though. I'd absolutely love to receive your book and the All-Clad pans would be an impressive bonus! Thanks for the opportunity!
oh goodness, i think i have to go with cinnamon ice cream. yum!
Pistachio. that was easy.
I'll give you a few more: rocky road, mint chocolate chip, anything with crunchiness in it, lately!
FUN!
I'd like the All-Clad but I'd rather have a copy of the book! I'll see if I can pick it up when I'm in Dublin this weekend to save shipping...if it's out in the UK.
J'aime le sorbet de mangue!
Congrats on the book release! My favorite ice cream flavor is Mint Chocolate Chip.
Lemon sorbet and coffee ice cream, often in that combination too :)
Today, my favorite is mango.
Coffee, coffee, coffee!
Congratulations on the new book. I can't wait to read it. I love "Perfect Scoop".
Maple Walnut is my favorite ice cream.
brown butter ice cream (Craft NYC)
Too many to choose from (it's like asking what's your favorite thing about Paris?), but if I must: Black Raspberry Cabernet and Denali(R) Motherlode(R).
Mint chocolate chip made with fresh mint!
Pistachio, or your vanilla!
Today my favourite flavour is salt caramel....maybe it's because I had Laduree macaroons that were this flavour yesterday!
My favorite is coffee oreo cookie. Love it!
The book is on it's way from Amazon through my preorder. I'm looking forward to reading it. Good luck on the book!
stracciatella : white base (i prefer vanilla) with chocolate shavings like truffle chocolate
burnt caramel
Definitely rum raisin!
!!
choosing a favourite flavour is like choosing which child to save from a burning house. ooh - did i go too far? haha - pistachio it is!
Mango sorbet and Butter scotch ice-cream are my favorites!
... adding to the chorus, congrats on the book!
flavor favorites:
ice cream: coffee
sorbet: coconut
(thank god you didn't ask about toppings, that would've been impossible!)
rum raisin
Milk Chocolate and Black Pepper and for two reasons. First reason is because I like it. Second reason is because everyone just knows they are not going to like it and then can't stop eating it after the first taste.
My favorite at the moment is mango ice cream or sorbet. But all my life has been dark chocolate. Let's face it: I looove ice cream and I can't really choose one, I like them all. (provided they're made from good quality ingredients, of course!)
I'm looking forward to read your new book, David. Congratulations!!!!
Definitely Vanilla -- but only homemade with vanillabeans and not with artificial flavour! I am very curious about your new book as I love Paris and hope to learn a lot of new things about that beautiful city. Think I will visit Paris in autumn.
Dark chocolate sorbet, where there's nothing to get in the way of the pure chocolate flavor, or passion fruit, preferably with the seeds left in.
Butterscotch and Pecan or when I am feeling particularly childish... Goody goody gumdrops....
dulce de leche or any flavor w/caramel swirled through it! can't wait to get your book! paula
Oh my, it's gotta be coffee ice cream. Also, I can't wait to get your book!
Do I have to narrow it down to just one? Ok then, chocolate...no wait...chocolate peanut butter...I mean nutella gelato...or maybe coffee with chocolate chips...
Ok, since I usually have a common theme, I'll have to say chocolate as my original fave.
gelato, any kind! lucky for me i'm spending nine weeks in italy this fall :)
BUT i'm also in desperate, desperate need of some pots and pans. this is fabulous. congrats on your new book!
cherry chocolate
my favorite flavor is probably... chocolate hazelnut. and congrats on the book! you have a big fan in houston, texas. :)
My favorite kind of ice cream IN THE WORLD is la glace au cassis, which I can never find in North America, which breaks my heart! My second favorite kind of ice cream IN THE WORLD is pistachio ice cream, but it's very difficult to find good pistachio ice cream that doesn't make your tongue green or tastes like plastic and has crunchy pieces of real pistachio inside!
Meyer lemon sorbet, please!
mmm...coconut!
Black sesame seed ice cream for sure!
Blood Orange sorbet
Does gelato count? If so, it's got to be nocciola.
A French-style vanilla egg custard is favourite! Great on its own, or with whatever fruit and liquor you have on hand. Chocolate works too!
Looking forward to the new book, David!
Our freezer always has some of your Malted Milk ice cream in it. Look forward to reading your new book.
It's a toss-up between chocolate or dulce de leche.
Jaffa (choc-orange Aussie style!!!!!!!)
I would absolutely die for some fried iced cream -- either green tea or plain jane vanilla. Soooo amazing!
Campari/Pomelo sorbet.
"Into the thigh-high boots..."? With the boys still in?
oooo, if i'm going to be honest, chocolate rocks me every single time. if i want to sound exotic, i always go with rosemary goat's milk ice cream!
mint chocolate chip
mmmmmmmmm!!!
let's see, favorite ice cream is cookie dough. and i can never seem to get past the ice cream menu to order sorbet. maybe this summmer?
pistachio!
Spicy chocolate (ice cream or sorbet) with caramel sauce (although I've never tried salted caramel...).
Last time I checked, not a single bookstore in my hometown had a copy of The Perfect Scoop in stock. I hope I have better luck finding The Sweet Life!
Pralines and cream
Coconut, anything with coconut
berthillon's salted caramel.... or perhaps their chocolate amer... it's too hard to choose!
Congrats on the book!
Hmm.. Fav. Icecream would be Spiced Cranberry & Ginger.. never seen it in store shelves, but favorites can always be whipped up at home right?
Congratulations on your new book.
My favourite ice-cream is nougatine! Always order it for dessert when it's available.
This week my favorite ice cream would have to be ginger. Best of luck with the book.
Lemon for sorbet, but mango for ice cream.
Looking forward to the book.
Coffee haagen-dazs soothes my soul.
Ohhh, so hard to choose! Probably my latest favorite is Pineapple Upside Down Cake custard from a little shop by me. Mmmmmm.
Usually something with chocolate and caramel is awesome too.
i'll have to go for blackberry. I love blackberry anything!
Raspberry truffle!
not to go all brand-name... buy my fav is B&Js New York Super Fudge Chunk.
congrats on the book!! will be picking it up soon!
Chocolate, hands down!
mint chocolate chip
Okay, I seriously need/covet this all-clad set almost as much as I love reading your blog. My favorite ice-cream flavor is peppermint, but it is closely followed by honey-lavender. And no, the two don't taste so great together.
Oooh, I shouldn't have read the comments before making my own. Now my head's buzzing with too many flavours.
I'll choose vanilla ice cream with crushed cinnaman cookies, though I would join your readers in any of the above!
Well, without a doubt, my favorite is the Malted Milk Ball Ice Cream, from your book!
Congratulations on the new book! Can't wait to check it out.
My favourite ice cream flavour is coffee.
Jasmine. Got your book yesterday and can't put it down. Fun stuff.
Only one favourite? Pistachio
Congratulations on your new book! What an exciting time! And the giveaway is too fun - my favorite ice cream flavor is constantly changing, but right now I'm obsessed with pistachio.
Carmel pecan.
Rocky road is my all-time favorite, but I wouldn't turn down any ice cream, regardless of flavor!
Chocolate walnut fudge ..... yum. Congrats David .... you've got the best website and I'm sure the book will be wonderful!
Chocolate!
Sweet corn and blackberry from Jeni's Ice Creams. :)
lemon sorbet yummy!
Well I'm partial to pistachio but my absolute favourite would be the almond milk with almond macaroon pieces from Picard... subtle, simple, flavorfull but delicate.
Congratulations David!
mango ice cream all the way!!!!
Congrats on the new book! Strawberry sorbet, because I am a simple creature :)
Can't wait to get your book in the mail - pre-ordered from Amazon.
Favorite ice cream... salted butter caramel (your recipe). Hands down.
Congratulations on your success!
Aztec Chocolate from you cookbook "The Perfect Scoop"!
Banana
Congratulations on the new book!
For the longest time my favorite flavor of ice-cream used to be dark chocolate with a swirl or coffee. But a few days ago I had this really exquisite jasmine ice-cream that blew me away. Jasmine is totally my new favorite now!
Mint Chocolate Chip
I'm inclined to say coffee from DL's ice cream book (full of chocolate chips) but there are so many to love! Like fresh ginger and dark chocolate? Or raspberry and dark chocolate? Or buckwheat?
Mmmmm....the buckwheat is good. I'll go with that, I guess.
Your salted caramel ice cream -- it's better than Bi-Rite! Your recipe for lemon buttermilk sherbet, made with Meyer lemons, is my new favorite but it's not ice cream, so I guess it doesn't count.
chocolate peanut butter!
I'm a sucker for green tea ice cream, though you don't come by it that often. In fact, that's probably part of its allure.
Congratulations on the book!
I love the timeless Strawberry icecream from HaagenDaz... just the right amount of ingredients and flavor combination.
I can't live without cinnamon icecream!
Chocolate chip
My favorite ice cream flavor goes back and forth between three: Chocolate, Vanilla or Blueberry Gelato. I'm a little indecisive. Oh, okay, and maybe sometimes my favorites are strawberry cheesecake and/or peanut butter swirled through chocolate. Ack! I can't decide.
Strawberry
Green tea- I love anything that's a little bit gross it becomes great.
I have a dwarf sour cherry tree in my front yard. A friend makes ice cream from the juice of the cherries I give him. It is indescribably delicious. Visit in late July and you may have some.
my favorite is any flavor that is home-made ( I make my own) if I have to choose one it would be salted carmel - can't wait to buy the new book.
Ube (purple yam, popular as a sweet ingredient in the Philippines, used in cakes, ice cream, pastry fillings,...)
Salted caramel ice cream - your recipe!
Cinnamon! That's the flavor from Perfect Scoop that I make most often.
Definitely chocolate. Forever.
Berthillon's salted caramel
Lemon Sorbet
Creme Fraiche Ice Cream & Sorbet -- although with Creme Fraiche as the main ingredient the sorbet is very ice-cream like. Also, Apple Sorbet because I have a killer recipe that uses apple cider rather than fresh apples (avoiding all the peeling, dicing, pureeing, etc.)
salted caramel from bi-rite!
Vanilla.
Do I have to choose one? It depends on the brand/shop, I love anything with caramel (doux or beurre sale), chocoloate chip (especially mint, with slivers rather than chips of chocolate), black cherry and cookies and cream... but my favorite flavor, because it is always good is fior de latte (or sweet cream). My favorite purveyors of gelato are Capogiro in Philadelphia, Grom in Torino, and Raimo's in Paris.. So hungry right now :)
Passionfruit sorbet!
Bi-Rite Chai Tea.
Every New Years my mom used to take all the leftover candy canes from Christmas and make candy cane ice cream. We were the only family I knew who made ice cream in January ... but it was a family tradition and you know those can't be broken. And to be honest, that homemade candy cane ice cream remains my favorite flavor to this day - and always will be.
I love fresh mint ice cream with hot fudge!
Peach Peach Peach!
My favorite sorbet is blackberry cabernet from Ciao Bella. Chardonney peach is a close second. Mmm I want some Right. Now.
Malaga wine & raisins! Specialty of my local gelato shop. I haven't gone in for a couple months now as they've changed ownership and I can't bear the thought of my Malaga not being the same. Spring is here so I suppose it's time to screw up my courage. A set of pots would sure help me forget my potential sorrow!
Brown Sugar Vanilla or Smurfberry
grapefruit and rosemary sorbet. herbaceous, bright and very refreshing on a hot TX day.
olive oil gelato. yummmy
Coconut!
Dulce de leche!
Milk Chocolate Guinness!
I love banana chocolate chip ice cream and am honestly making some as I type this!!!
Congrats on your new book. Can't wait to read it!
tart fresh passionfruit sorbet
My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate chip. Now I'm hungry.
coffee ice cream!
Strawberry of course!
David - what is a "rubber zizi" ?!?!?!?
Gabi @ Mamaliga.
I'd go with chocolate. Any kind of chocolate - nutella, german chocolate, rocky road - anything with chocolate anytime any day :)
A bowl filled with dark chocolate gelato and raspberry sorbet! Such a good combination.
Can't wait to read your new book!
My personal favorite is salted butter caramel. The best flavor EVER.
Peppermint Ice Cream!
I'm a raspberry chocolate chip lover, but that pesky no chocolate thing means Ifall back on my second and third choices: maple walnut or coffee. Or perhaps I should try them mixed!
Pistachio
Your recipe for Malted Milk ice cream (with chopped malt balls) was the best I have made to date. Much thanks for it!
You didn't ask, but my #2 would probably be the one that was just milk, simmered for a while, then churned. Then either lemon-buttermilk or one of your strawberry ice creams...
Absolutely the tiramisu ice cream from The Perfect Scoop - it's become an addiction.
Mmm it is a tough question, but I would have to say lavender honey!
Pistachio gelato. One of those flavors that took me a while to try and now I cannot live without.
Lemon custard
What a fantastic give away, these would greatly compliment my new apartment next month! Favorite commercial ice cream flavor: Oatmeal Cookie Chunk. Favorite homemade flavor: Chocolate Peanut Butter. I'm crossing my fingers, avoiding ladders/mirrors and doing the rain dance now....
I love pineapple sorbet or ice cream in a float of pineapple juice. So refreshing in the hot Florida summers.
Garlic ice cream - I tasted it once and it was awesome!! but a little goes a long long long way.
coffee ice cream (with bananas and hot fudge) or mango sorbet.
I just adore coffee ice cream.
Your buttermilk-lemon sorbet is very very good, possibly my favorite. But then the tin roof sundae is a huge hit around these parts. And the lemon ice cream that the speculoos were supposed to go in, but with blueberry sauce rather than cookies. I really want to try the various coffee ice creams too, Vietnamese coffee in particular. And ooh, the peach frozen yogurt was fantastic (though freshy fresh local peaches played a part in that). But all in all, I love the ice cream book, for the simplicity of the ingredient list, and the cleverness behind it all. Thanks for one of my favorite cookbooks.
cassoulet ice cream seems very appealing to me.
Creme fraiche ice cream is my favorite too!
salted caramel
orange-fig
orange-chocolate-mint
Chocolate or any flavor that involves chocolate as a main ingredient!
Can't wait to read the book!
hm, just one? Gianduja, I guess.
Congratulations on the book!
My favorite ice cream flavor used to be vanilla - because if the vanilla is good, all the other flavors would be good, too. But now I make Butter Pecan at home with my ice cream maker (organic heavy cream, saute the pecans in butter -- oh SNAP! I need a cigarette!) Wouldn't it be nice to saute those little babies in a nice, new all-clad stainless steel pan? Oh baby.....
Sorbet - lemon with rosemary. Hands down.
Congrats on the book!
boring but classic... my favorite is still just chocolate :)
Coffee amaretto, english toffee, real vanilla bean are tops in my book. And congrats on your book!
Coconut sorbet is my favorite!
hazelnut gelato! i also love the salted caramel from bi-rite (thanks to your rec)! too bad i live on the east coast and can't have it all the time (or maybe that's actually a good thing). :-)
mmm favs change everytime I try a new one! right now, Butterfinger Crunch Ice Cream, and Lavendar Blueberry Sorbet
i have to pick just one?? well, I guess my current favorite is plain mint chocolate chip.
Mocha Coffee Bean...ice-cream nirvana! Congratulations on the launch of your new book. What a fitting celebration indeed! Have a great day...crumpet muffin top & all!
That is an easy question. Cherries Moobilee which is made by Moomers. Moomers is a small local ice cream maker located in Northern Michigan. The ice cream shop is located at their dairy farm.
The watermelon sorbet from Pozzetto....can't wait for it to come back in season!
All-time favorite, which I can no longer eat due to an unfortunate allergy, is Goo Goo Cluster. I bought it once just for the name and fell in love. It's like Rocky Road for Chuck Norris.
Current favorite - salted caramel. But most flavors will do atop a donut, which is pretty much the greatest thing ever.
My choice would be Ben and Jerry's Vanilla Caramel Fudge. And the right man makes it so much sweeter :-)
My favorite ice cream flavor is black pepper cardamom from Crema Cafe in Minneapolis!
My preferred ice cream is chocolate with peanut butter drizzles.
Well, bacon ice cream of course (yes, it does exist).
Congrats on the book!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (icecream)
Rainbow Sorbet....yum!
coffee with dark chocolate chunks
blackberry sorbet
Is all of them an option??? If not, I'll pick fresh mint chocolate chip. Gives you something to do with all that fresh mint before winter sets in.
Pralines and Cream... homemade.
Raspberry sorbet!
Does the winner also get a copy of your book?
I'll go homemade... and no brown-nosing, but honestly, your vanilla recipe is our favorite, hands-down.
Coffee
I love a good Rocky Road!!!!! Can't wait to get your new book!
My favorite flavor is raspeberry
Thank you and best of luck with the new book!
Teresa (I follow your blog in Portugal but my sister lives in Paris!)
I have to pick only ONE???? Really, David, I love reading your posts and all, but ONE FLAVOUR OF ICE CREAM? So long as you don't demand that this is my choice FOREVER and EVER, I suppose I can come up with something. It'll probably only stay true until the end of this competition though, I'm a fickle kind of person when it comes to ice cream.
My favourite flavour of ice cream is the one you get sitting on a harbour wall in an old stone Cornish fishing village in the middle of July - the kind of place where half the shops are hung about with multi-coloured buckets and spades and the other half are filled with watercolours of beach scenes and bits of driftwood artisticly placed in the windows. There'll be an excited dog and some lazy afternoon strollers in the harbour, and a series of cats laid out in the sun, with great big happy grins on their faces. It smells of gently fermenting seaweed and fishing nets, and the sea and the sky are luminous blue, as though you were inside a balloon.
Guess that's not an ACTUAL FLAVOUR. But it's the seasoning, and seasoning brings a dish to life, after all. The ice cream itself is made with Cornish strawberries and Cornish clotted cream. Nothing fancy. Ace ingredients that need no adulteration. And it'll be in one of those sugar cones, not the wafer ones - I've never liked the texture. And I'll know there's fresh fried fish for tea (with asparagus and butter new potatoes), and an afternoon to spend unearthing crabs and shrimps from the rockpools with my dogs first. I never did get over rockpooling.
...Heaven on earth.
My favourite ice cream flavour is good quality, home made vanilla - you can't beat it :)
Best of luck to everyone - this is a wonderful prize!
Mint Oreo Cookie! With chocolate sprinkles! Yum!
chocolate hazelnut gelato!!
There's a shop where I live that makes a "Birthday Cake" ice cream... homemade vanilla ice cream frozen together with mashed up cake, icing and sprinkles included. It's terribly juvenile, but I love it so.
It's so hard to decide on only one flavor... generally I like any ice cream with nuts in it, either a good butter pecan or rocky road. Yum.
Coffee amaretto!
Vanilla bean! Congrats on your new book!
Homemade black raspberry ( right out of the garden ! ) white chocolate chunk!!! YUMMY every time!!!
Mitchell's Double Fudge Chunk (a Cleveland specialty!)
My favorite flavor of icecream is really hazelnut gelato. But sometimes lemon gelato is perfection on a hot summer day.
Ben & Jerry's Phish Food followed very closely by mint chocolate chip. Also, can't wait to read your book!
I like Vanilla. I like to add fruit/chocolate when serving. Vanilla serves so many purposes.
Coffee Oreo.
One can never go wrong with chocolate.
Also, congrats on the book. I shall add to my wishlist for when I next need my cookbook fix (won't be long). :-)
Vanilla with a smidge of bourbon and couintreau
Chocolate ice cream or mango sorbet!!!!
Congratulations on the new book!!!!!
Meyer Lemon Sorbet
Thai Tea Ice cream!
For ice cream, it's hard to beat Tillamook Mudslide from the Tillamook Creamery in Oregon. Strawberry sorbet on a warm summer day in Tuscany may be the ultimate experience, though.
Ben and Jerry's Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz
Stracciatella Gelato....
cherry
My absolute favorite ice cream flavor has always been vanilla. You can never go wrong with vanilla and it goes with so many things! I'm also a big fan of mint cookies and cream, though!
I love Mango sorbet-It is so fresh tasting..feels like a fruit explosion in my mouth!
I also strawberry cheesecake Ice cream-anything cheesecake is good, right?!?!!
Fresh herb mojito sorbet.
Peanut Butter Chocolate
I might have given a different answer here before last week, but Molly Moon (http://www.mollymoonicecream.com) just opened a new ice cream shop down the street where she serves a gorgeous pomegranate curry sorbet. You can't eat more than a few spoonfuls, but you really wish you could.
Hazlenut!
Bacon!
Salted Butter Caramel, a la your fine self. Congrats.
Rocky Road. The little marshmallows make me feel about eight years old again, though when I actually was eight I think I preferred it to other "chocolate with bits of other stuff in it" variations mostly because the name sounded vaguely tough and grown up.
Butter pecan.
Congratulations on your new book. Can't wait to read it.
Pistachio
Salted caramel!!!!!
Creme fraiche!
Cherry Fudge Truffle - yuuummmmyyy..... :0)
Mint chocolate chip...only the white kind :)
Maple Ice Cream or Heath Bar Crunch in Sweet Cream
I've never gotten over the granola ice cream made for a short time in the 80's, so perfect.
I love ginger ice cream!
Chocolate and peanut butter.
Hazelnut sorbet! My boyfriend and I had it when we were living in Rome - it was served in a large hazelnut shell. Ever since we moved back to the States we have been looking for it (or a recipe) and can't find it anywhere! I'd love to find it again or be able to make it on my own...
half strawberry half cookies and cream!
Congratulations David on the new book! I just recently moved, and my mother made me throw away most of my (admittedly old, battered, ugly) pots and pans, so I'd be thrilled to have a new set. My favourite ice cream flavour, ever since I was little, is Pistachio.
My favourite ice cream/sorbet memory is from 2001. My mum and I were terribly jet lagged so climed Notre Dame first thing in the morning as the sun was still rising. After, we waited at a little sorbet shop until it opened and had scoops of mango ice cream before heading back to our hotel at St Germain for breakfast.
So mango. Mmmm.
Congrats on the book! My fave: orange-Szechuan peppercorn.
chocolate with carmel and pecans
Ben and Jerry's 'Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road' Ice Cream... had it this year on free cone day and it is definitely my new favorite.
Daniel Craig? A zizi? Clothing optional shopping? The cookware would be great, but I've got to read this book!
Oh, and my favorite flavor of sorbet is mango, especially when beautiful sliced strawberries have been macerated in lemon and mint, then poured over the sorbet. Mmmm.
Chocolate peanut butter.
peanut butter chocolate
Creme fraiche! (Although I seriously considered switching loyalties when I tried your anise ice cream and blood orange granita combination. Delicious!)
Well, I'm a purist - I like a good chocolate ice cream best. Preferably made from dark chocolate.
I'm a huge fan of Sweet Cream and Cookies by Ben & Jerry's. It's my favorite of all time.
Dark, creamy, calorie-filled chocolate, please!
Chocolate, of course!
Ice cream made with ripe peaches!! A close, very close, second is rum raisin ice cream made with your recipe in The Perfect Scoop.
Definitely chocolate chip cookie dough.
If I have to choose one flavor it would be vanilla, because then I can dress it up any way I want! Thanks for the chance at a set of All-Clad and CONGRATS on the new book!
My favorite ice cream flavor would have to be green tea or rocky road. Yum! Yum! Yum!
congrats mr. lebovitz on your new book!
my favorite ice cream at the moment (i admit, i can't pick just one) is toasted coconut sesame brittle from haagen daaz.
Cookie dough!!
Strawberry or chocolate...Or why not both?
Blood Orange Sorbet is my favorite :o) Though something tells me that if i had an ice cream with lavender or anise in it that my favorite would change!
Congratulations on the book! I can't wait to read it! :oD
I love coconut ice cream. I reminds me of being on holiday.
Peppermint!
My current favourite is Roasted Marshmallow ice cream from Hollywood Gelato in Toronto. Rumour has it that Ben and Jerry's tried to buy the patented recipe but were denied.
I'm telling you, this stuff is as addictive as it gets!
Lemon sorbet.
Your toasted coconut ice cream is my favorite! (And the best!) I love it scooped into a tall frosty glass of home-made ginger-ale. Ice cream soda, perfection.
xoxo
Rachael
straight up chocolate ice cream. yum.
Coffee Oreo ice cream from Ashley's in New Haven makes me happy every time. My other favorite is green tea ice cream. yum.
Congratulations on your new book, I loved your perfect scoop!
lemon sorbet or ginger ice cream
Salted Caramel.
Green tea ice cream has been my favorite since I went to Japan (had some every evening). Hmmm... Green tea ice cream...
Malaga ice cream is my favourite (but only in combination with chocolate). Nom!
Personally, I think I'll stick with a creamy vanilla bean, homemade, with white chocolate straticella... and some cocoa nibs. Yum.
A zizi... my, my. Your adventures...
Extreme Moose Tracks
Green tea!
passion fruit sorbet! preferably with the seeds included, aussie-style. yummy.
Mission to Marzipan (Ben+Jerry's)
If I really have to pick just one, I'd have to go with vanilla because the add-in/on potential is unlimited. Plus, really good vanilla ice cream is REALLY good.
I would have to say either rice pudding gelato or dark chocolate / peanut butter! All Clad is wicked stuff!
Congratulations on the book! It sound wonderful and I can't wait to read it. My favorite flavor is a black raspberry sorbet. We can only make it when the raspberries are in season, but oh what a treat!
Congratulations on your new book! My favorite flavor is haagen dazs melon! So good!
From the Perfect Scoop, I'll say Butterscotch Pecan, but that's a tough question! Congrats on the new book!
Chocolate with peanut-butter cups and fudge.
coffee + toffee
Mango sorbet, nearly any flavor of ice cream. I received an All Clad skillet for a birthday many years ago. I use it all of the time and named it Jacques LePan. When guests come over for a meal, I tell them that Jacques will be helping in the kitchen.
I like hazelnut!
Oh, coffee, absolutely....
I've finally bought myself a good electric ice cream maker, and I'm looking forward to a long summer of experimentation to find out the answer to that question -- I'm pretty sure it will have chocolate somewhere in the recipe, though. "The Perfect Scoop" arrives today, and the first batch rolls out tomorrow!
What a fabulous contest!!! I've been needing some new pots and pans for the longest time ... this would be perfect!!
Ok, favorite flavor -- chocolate with a deep, thick caramel swirl. Oh, heaven on my tongue!!
P.S. Crazy excited about the new book!!! Yippee!!
Congratulations! My favorite flavor is melon ice cream! So good!
Dulce de leche ice cream, no question. Congratulations on your new book!
Anything with lots of chocolate or chocolate chip cookie dough with sprinkles - yum!
Häagen-Dazs French Vanilla and Ben & Jerry's Everything But The. This is an awesome giveaway, btw! Thank you!
Black raspberry and banana.

It's a toss-up between chocolate and dulce de leche, but I rarely turn down any flavor of ice cream or sorbet.
Congratulations on the new book- it looks great!
Favorite ice cream: Aztec Chocolate (homemade of course)
Definitely peanut butter-chocolate...preferably homemade.
MY favorite ice cream flavor is black cherry. Congrats on the new book!

Wildflower honey ice cream! Per your instructions, of course.
Lemon Olive Oil!
Super rich chocolate ice cream with a swirl of buttery and salty caramel.
I had a dark chocolate gelato once that was just amazing, it would have to be my favorite. Look forward to getting your book - not just for the food tips, but your terrific sense of humor.

cinnamon ice cream
Salted caramel...yum. Throw some chocolate pieces on top, too.
Black Bean! Yes, Black Bean!
My favorite ice cream is the rosemary olive oil ice cream I made last fall - herbaceous, fruity and, topped with a little bit of Malden, surprising.
As for the cookware - it'd be great, but I really just want to say I can't wait to read your book. Thanks!
Congratulations on your new book! My favorite ice cream: mint chip and malted milk (your recipe BTW).
Cookies and cream (today).
Home made caramel.
Growing up my grandmother would make ice cream sandwiches by squishing vanilla icecream between grahmcrackers; the whole thing was to be drowned in home-made chocolate syrup before eating. This, I think, is my favorite combination ever.
Now, I have to say I have a huge weakness for B&J's stoner-style ice creams, especially the Oatmeal Cookie Chunk
Can't wait to read the zizi story! My sister is bringing my copy to Paris so I'll have the pleasure of reading it in just a few weeks.
Favorite sorbet has to be Cassis and favorite ice cream is definitely Gianduja.
Congratulations on your gorgeous book! I'll read it soon!
Favorite Icecream? Pomegranate Sour Cream with bitter chocolate sauce. Yum!
Yogurt, now not, frozen yogurt, but yogurt flavoured ice cream. Well, if not, I just go to Baskin Robins for their Pistachio.
That's tough... I'm such a fan of nearly ALL ice cream and sorbet. Banana... no, mint chip... no, butter pecan, no, fresh strawberry, no, really, really good vanilla ice cream.
My copy of the book arrived yesterday from an Amazon pre-order. I read the first 81 pages in the first tranche, took a short break, and made it to p.215 before I forced myself to put it down. It's smart, laugh-out-loud funny and somehow wisely warm. Truly fantastic. And I'm demanding.
Oh, ice cream? I don't think I'd decline anything but peanut butter, but my favorite is chocolate. Or strawberry. Or the kind that comes in a cup. Or a cone....
Great giveaway! Barring any flight delays, I hope to attend your booksigning at WH Smith in a few weeks. My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate hazelnut/gianduja.

Definitely red velvet ice cream!!!
I read your website with great interest, it is in my top favorites and the subject is very close to my heart, Paris combined with such lovely food. I visited Paris in March and simply fell in love with it so I am glad to read your stories about how it is to live there.
Btw. my favorite ice cream is Chocolate Fudge Brownie.
I have to be boring and go with vanilla ice cream, here.
Only one flavor? Mint chocolate chip. Or a really good vanilla, like yours....
With mirabelle eau-de-vie. And chocolate. Dark chocolate. And just after noisette. And all alcohol ones.
Mango!! Can't wait to read the book.
Ooh a new book and some new cookware. That's a nice combo!
I'm boring, I love vanilla. There is so much you can do with vanilla, from add ins and swirls! Or enjoy it simply, it's all good!
My favourite flavour is good old vanilla!
Look forward to seeing the book.
Lemon sorbet! Yummm.
My favorite ice cream flavor is Bailey's Irish Cream. :)
Mocha almond fudge! Or Rocky Road.
coffee
Mexican chocolate ice cream, from your cookbook. Here's why: it turned out to be delicious, creamy, chocolate-y, in every way good...but when it hit the back of your throat, it gave it such a kick...why? Instead of using the ancho pepper (I think that was the one)...I substituted cayenne pepper. Bad idea. Later on, after that debacle I discovered the heat factor of Cayenne Pepper vs. ancho pepper and realized why it was too spicy to eat.
So excited for the new book. Lemon sorbet - always refreshing!
Pistachio, of course!
congratulations on the book, david! i'll be sure to check it out asap!
favorite ice cream/sorbet: salted butter caramel ice cream.
My favorite ice cream flavor is tahitian vanilla!

Can't wait to read your newest book, even if I have to buy my own copy!
banana nut in summer, pumpkin in winter.

It's hard to pick a favourite, but I do love pink grapefruit and campari sorbet. Congratulations on the book, can't wait to read it!
Congrats on the new book! Can't wait to order it! My favourite flavour of ice cream is pistachio. Love that stuff. Too bad I'm on the pre-wedding starvation diet!
Cinnamon ice cream is my absolute favorite!
It's so hard to choose but I would be hard-pressed to turn down chocolate peanut butter ice cream. If I'm in a lighter mood, I might go with french vanilla with chocolate chunks.
Ducle de Leche all the way
Caramel au beurre salé
Congrats on the book!
When I was a teenager, my sister made the most intense ginger ice cream. It was soooo good and I've been trying to find something similar ever since. So far the closest I've come is taking Hagen Daas new ginger ice cream (the one with only five ingredients), softening it up and stirring in chunks of crystallized ginger, and then topping it will some more crystallized ginger. Not that I'm into excess or anything.
Malted milk.
black cherry ice cream with a dark chocolate sauce
Looking forward to getting the book....
My favorite flavor is White Chocolate from Christina's in Cambridge, MA. They now have a spice shop next door where they sell the same fresh spices used in their ice creams. Cinnamon nutmeg from Steve's in Somerville MA (long gone) was amazingly excellent with their not-too-sweet chocolate fudge sauce. My current favorite occasional treat is a malted made with Malted Vanilla from Herrell's (related to Steve's) chocolate syrup and extra malt.
Red bean ice cream is particularly tasty! Yum!
Congrats on the book, David. I'm looking forward to picking up a copy. :)
♥Homemade vanilla bean icecream. And when I'm feeling particularly hormonal the chocolate icecream you posted some time ago. ☺

The banana ice cream we made when I was a little kid (frozen in the infamous leftover cool whip containers).

I've never posted on a blog before, but I have been a dedicated reader of your's for the past year or so...so it's about time for me to tell you how much I appreciate your stories. As a child my favorite sorbet was rainbow and I still have an addiction to chocolate ice cream. As a matter of fact the more chocolate the better.
Congrats again and good luck with huge sales!
Ronald
Hmm, I think it's a tie between mango sorbet and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
Chocolate all the way!! And congratulations on the book :)
Congratulations on the new book!!! :) I can't wait to read it.
My favorite ice cream is pistachio. In fact, searching for this recipe for my new ice cream maker is how I found you! :) I've other ice creams and sorbets I like, but since pistachio is hard to find where I am I finally broke down and got a maker and looked for a recipe.
mocha chip
Coffee ice cream is awesome!
Pralines & cream! But I still need to create a dairy-free version.
For icecream it is pistachio. A bit understated, but easy to savor. For sorbet I like a citrus infused with lavender.
Cinnamon is delicious and marries well with other flavors.
(It's especially good eaten from ALL CLAD stainless pans...)
Congrats David, sell big!

While I adore ice-cream Vanilla remains my favourite. A well-made (home made) traditional quality vanilla, maybe with a hint of malt is unbeatable on its own and is the perfect compliment to a range of deserts and cakes. Best of luck to you with the book and to me with the competition. Regards, Raymondo
Ice cream: a really, really good vanilla doesn't need any toppings, but basic spumoni with a good pastachio layer will always win my heart.
Sorbet/sherbert: have yet to meet a fruit sorbet I didn't like; but if I could only have one it would be lemon.
Chocolate!

Hmmmm. Favorite ice cream is tough. It would have to be chocolate ice cream and coconut sorbet...
Marrons glaces(sp?) gelato, which I never, ever find here in Colorado, or in the U.S. I ate it in Italy. And it was glorious. Don't you have a recipe for it in your ice cream book? I think so, anyway.
Also, thank you for mentioning Daniel Craig. That gave me a wonderful momentary mental vacation. Mmm.

It wasn't a multiple submission on my part! The website said that the comment wasn't submitted because there was some kind of website failure, so I submitted again. Hopefully you won't disqualify me, because I don't know any way to delete the duplicate comment!
Earl Gray! It's a flavor! I promise!
Peppermint Ice Cream!!!

Well, if you put a pistolet to my head and made me choose, I guess I'd say Rocky Road is my favorite. But pretty much any combination of chocolate and crunchy will make me happy. Butterscotch pecan from your book .
Dulce de Leche ice cream! I'm a chocolate addict, but this stuff is amazing.
My favorite ice cream flavor to purchase is currently HD's pom. chip or B&J's Chubby Hubby. To make, it's hands-down your Milk Chocolate Guiness, David. And I'm not just saying that.
I love chocolate ice cream. Specifically, there is a small ice cream stand in Bloomington, Indiana - The Chocolate Moose. Their chocolate ice cream is by far the best I have had.
Is it possible for anything to be better than your vanilla ice cream with your salted butter carmel sauce? I say NOT!

Definitely pistachio.
My fave is lavender honey. Your book is the perfect Mother's Day gift for my francophile foodie mom. Congrats!
Lemon sorbet!!
I love all ice cream flavors, but mint chip will always have my heart.
Most sublime ice cream experience was pistacchio gelato in Rome--sort of beige/gray, but incredibly intense pistachio flavor. Also love sheep's milk sorbet made from local sheep's milk yogurt.
I have never met a flavor of ice cream that I don't like...except maybe bubble gum? That's just wrong.

This cookware is the bomb! Good luck to everyone :)
David, not sure if you'll read this or not, but I did an interview with Dorie the other day and it was fabulous. Would love to do one with you as well if you have the time :)
Favorite flavor? As in ONE flavor? Argh. I do love the simple fruit ice creams (right now I'm working my way through a strawberries-with-Gran Marnier that's lovely and last summer I made several batches of fresh peach) and had a pineapple-lime-coconut sorbet I was very fond of. But, overall? I'll go with Salted Butter Caramel.
Buttermilk ice cream, though I'd be hard pressed to say no to any ice cream or sorbet!
Congrats on the book David, I look forward to reading it!

If gelato, doesn't count, then it has to be peach ice cream.

I'm a coconut ice cream girl myself. And congratulations on your new book!

While I am a fan of many ice cream flavors, I'd have to say that vanilla is my favorite -- it does not get nearly enough credit.
Salted Caramel. The salted part blows me away.
Congrats on your book! I've been lurking on your site ever since I went to Paris and came back desperate to recreate chocolate macarons and found your recipe. And Adam of the Amateur Gormet mentions you too (he's fantastic). I tried and failed dismally three times haha ... then the boyfriend managed to make them for me fantastically on my birthday. I'm upset he did it and I couldn't. =)
Guess I'll have to go back to gay Paree or Jin's Patisserie here in Los Angeles!
lilikoi sorbet
Coconut. Preferably with little chocolate sauce.
Honey Lavender from BiRite Creamery
Wow, what a great giveaway. I'm going to go with burnt caramel ice cream for now.
The Lebovitz blood orange sorbet, of course.
Mint chocolate chip. It doesn't matter what other flavors I try, I always come back to this one.
MMM, ice cream. My favourite is either avocado (had in Mexico and opened my eyes to new food possibilities) or anything by Berthillon. That shop was a highlight of my trip to Paris. Black current ice cream was aaamazing. Luckily they serve small portions!
Congratulations on the book.
Pistachio
My favorite is coffee oreo!
The new book looks great!
I love it all, if I have to choose at this moment I would like some Dulce de Leche.

Ben & Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch
There, I said it. I feel better now.
Kawartha Dairy Moose Tracks!
I really love a traditional, all-natural vanilla bean flavor. Though I do enjoy a Karamel Sutra now and again!
Vanilla Bean is my all-time favorite, straight out of the IC machine.
But a recent fave is candied bacon ice cream, served in profiterole!
So many flavorites. While peanut butter is near the top, I'd have to go with blood orange gelato.

Parlines and cream.
My favorite is good old fashioned homemade strawberry.
Vanilla ice cream. With chocolate sauce.

I cannot possibly choose a favorite ice cream or sorbet flavor. Fresh strawberry or fresh peach ice cream, a sorbet made with a melange of tropical fruits (that one comes close to being the favorite -- recipe on request), lemon sorbet, green tea ice-cream, coffee ice cream, or, often neglected and utterly delicious, a really good vanilla. Cannot, cannot choose.
I look forward to reading your book -- it sounds like too much fun. You have blurbed your own book in the entry above, and done an enticing job of it
I've been going through a lot of B & J's Cherry Garcia FroYo lately. The best "light" stuff.
Bacio gelato!! Yummm and in case that doesn't count, mocha chip ice cream.
When really good peaches are in season, that's my choice. But Vanilla is always my favorite.
I'm old school when it comes to favorite ice cream flavor: Butter Pecan

My favorite would be anything with chocolate in it. Oreo cookie, cookie dough, chocolate, mint chip. Mmmmmmmmm
Oooh, Chocolate peanut butter! Or maybe coconut. Or praline. Or...excuse me, I have to go eat some ice cream now.

Minted honeydew.
Thanks for the stories that have helped me find my way both in Paris and the kitchen.
Its a toss up between dulce de leche in Argentina from Grido, eaten outside with my host family, or the ice cream made at my university. Clemson makes their ice cream using student labor, with milk and cream from the cows students raise across the street from my apartment. Their double chocolate chip is awesome, along with hot apple pie.
Congratulations on the book!
Belgian chocolate.
I'm another person who's been reading this blog forever but never commented until free cookware was involved. Because of you I discovered Grom in Paris and because of me all of my friends have discovered it. And while I haven't seen this flavor on their menu yet, my favorite is definitely mango sorbet.
Strawberry ice cream from The Perfect Scoop. It is worlds away from the cloying candy-like stuff from the supermarket. It changed my LIFE!
I can't wait to read the book - it's en route for delivery today. Squeee!
i love lemon sorbet
I cannot tell a lie - mango-mascarpone ice cream.
I'd have to go with good ol'-fashioned vanilla. There is a subtle art in making simplicity shine.
Can't wait to check out your new book! Hard to pick just one favourite ice cream flavour, but I'd have to go with Chocolate Mint as my all-time #1.
Mango
I wish I could afford your book, but as I currently have one (tiny) pot and one (tiny) skillet, I feel I should allocate my (tiny) budget elsewhere. Unless, of course, I win this giveaway ;) Anyway, dark chocolate anything is my favourite, but I have a soft spot for really good vanilla ice cream, and very tart lemon sorbet.
Je vous félicite d'avoir terminé votre livre!
Carrot cake,your recipe, dangerously decadent.

I will never ever forget the fresh mint ice cream that Skye Gyngell (of Petersham Nurseries Cafe) made for us one hot summer's day, a revelation in ice cream.
Mango hands down!
So my favorite flavor is the result of two flavors in a glorious embrace - it would be a crime to separate them, so I'll bend the rule and list them both: honey lavender and salted caramel from Bi-Rite Creamery in SF!
I'm drooling all over the place just thinking about it.
Oreo mint
Mint chocolate chip. Ever since I was a kid.
Also, your book arrived yesterday and I'm really digging it. It makes me wish men in Canada wore pants that fit... :)

I remember it fondly from my childhood in New Orleans and haven't been able to find a comparable one since then!!!
Congratulations on the book, David! I would totally come to a reading, especially if you include some of your tweets. Also, my favorite ice cream flavor will always be vanilla--I'm more into milkshakes than just scoops of ice cream. Although I just tried a pomegranate curry sorbet, and I'm thoroughly infatuated at the moment!
maple ice cream with flecks of salty bacon.
Peach Ice Cream
coconut ice cream!
Lemon sorbet!
Hi David, huge congrats on the release of The Sweet Life in Paris. I bet you mention the poop of small Parisian dogs and its threat to a nice pair of shoes. Will soon find out, anyway, because it's on my Amazon list. Your book. Not the poop.
My favourite ice cream flavour is zizi. HA. Just kidding. (do you think you should let people in on what a zizi is? Just in case they don't get French slang?? Could surprise a few folk!)
Seriously, I absolutely adore stracciatella gelato. Nothing like it. I just wish I could go and get some on the way home but there are no gelato shops around here. Major bummer.

Nutella or Strawberry or both, I could do both. On your next trip to North America, go to Toronto and then the Cookbook Store...I'm sure they'd love to have you!
Mango! :)

If I am out I go for Vanilla.... if I am making it at home, either caramel or peach. I had a really delish cheesecake flavor once too....

Ice cream, well, I love them all, it would be a toss up between cardamon, roasted banana (from Bi-Rite) and mascarpone, ice cream - YUM!!
Denise
can't wait to read the book. so enjoy exploring paris through your adventures there.
For ice cream, my fave is currently "hula dance" from Scoop in Fairfax (it's coconut ice cream with chocolate and macadamia nuts), and for sorbet, it would have to be your blood orange sorbet that I made this winter - yum!

super dulce de leche! it´s dulce de leche ice cream with fresh dulce de leche
salted caramel
My favorite flavor is raspberry or perhaps raspberry with white chocolate.
vanilla. i know, i know, it's boring. but a good vanilla ice cream makes me swoon. btw i'm making your candied bacon ice cream for a southern-style smoker duel this weekend (as in food that has been cooked in a smoker). i've a feeling the bacon ice cream will be a hit.
Toasted coconut ice cream with fudge ripple. (And a bit of toasted coconut sprinkled on top.)
Cappucino chunk chocolate frozen yogurt from Braums in Oklahoma!
Ohm, I'd say lemon sorbet with cava or mandarin-chocolate ice cream on the sweet side and... a simple tomato sorbet or maybe some cheese ice cream on the savory side...
Oh, this is my favorite question to answer. It was a dish of rose flavored ice cream that I had at Chez Panisse in about...um...let's say pre-1990. It completely changed this country boy's idea of what food is or could be. And, I haven't looked back!
David, it just occurred to me, did you make that ice cream? (OK, the real date was Spring of '86) I always assumed it was Lindsay Shere who made it. And, given the genius of her Chez Panisse Desert Cookbook I had no reason to think more about it. But, now I wonder.
Any ice cream or sorbet with those real vanilla beans or fresh picked strawberries are my heats desire!
dulce de leche ice cream, orange sorbet
My favorite is coconut. If it has toasted almonds sprinkled on top, even better. I would eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I knew I could do it and still be able to fit into my clothing. Seriously.
My favorite sorbet flavor is blood orange (when done right) or ACE Multivitamin. The flavors are so bright!
Coconut. I also will say that the raspberry ice cream in your book is the best I have ever eaten. Ditto the peach. Thanks.
Count me in -- coffee heath bar is simply the best ice cream there is.

The chocolate sorbet from The Perfect Scoop. Amazing flavor.
Easily, blood orange guava sorbet (from Scoops in Los Angeles!)
Easy question - that would be your Salted Caramel Ice Cream. To absolutely die for!
Have a safe trip.
Can't wait to read your new book, and try some recipes too! Flavour of the month--chocolate hazelnut gelato--yum, yum.

Any kind of citrus sorbet. Yum.
I love chocolate ice cream. Congrats on your new book.
Burnt sugar / pear is the winner!
rum raisin!!
because i truly believe raisins are underrated.
My favorite ice cream flavor is your malted milk ice cream, and I'm not just trying to butter you up. I actually made an extra pint last year and hid it in the freezer so no one else would finish it off.
I am also a huge fan of butter-pecan, though my favorite is possibly the cinnamon-apple ice cream I made last Thanksgiving using your vanilla base. With homemade caramel swirls, it was fantastic!
Mmmmm, salted carmel ice cream from Bi Rite.
Prunes and brandy
Raspberry sorbet
It's a tie between Balsamic Strawberry and Salted Caramel.
just plain vanilla
salted caramel when someone else is making it, mint chip when i'm making it
There is no flavor on earth that I love more than homemade blackberry ice cream made with berries from my own yard. A perfect summer treat!
LIME! Congrats on your book! =)
Such a tough choice, but I am going with...vanilla...yes, it's true. Is that shamefully boring? I prefer to think that I am all about the subtle charms.
Super easy! The best flavor: chocolate/hazelnut. Congrats on the book!
mint chip
Jamoca Almond Fudge
mocha ice cream and hot fudge sauce!
Coffee...olive oil a very close second.

Daniel Craig?! woo!
I made digestive and caramel ice cream the other day which was pretty damn tasty. Also a massive fan of lemon sorbet.
cinnamon
For ice cream I have to say that I like good old chocolate chip. But I can't seem to find *good* chocolate chip anymore--I like well made ice cream with chips in it, not big hunks of chocolate.
My favorite sorbet comes from my favorite ice cream shop in the NW: Mora on Bainbridge Island. They have a seasonal flavor called "Sweetheart" that is strawberry sorbet with chocolate chips in it. Yum!
Like many others, I can't live without my butter pecan. I love the version from The Joy of Cooking, but would love to see a version from you on the website. I'm currently saving up for A Perfect Scoop, so I don't know if you've got one in there.
Salted Caramel, from Bi-Rite in San Francisco
Vanilla Black pepper from Mallard's in Bellingham WA
I love pistachio ice cream. Looks like a popular flavor. Congrats on your new book David!
Pistachio. Yummy. Congratulations!

I've only made ice cream thrice (so far) - but your butterscotch butter pecan ice cream rocked my socks - far better than anything I've bought in a store!
tiramisu
I love cardamom-rose ice-cream (vanilla as the base) and lemon sorbet.
Olive oil gelato. I really, really, really hope that counts!
A very good vanilla. It goes with everything.
David, congratulations on your 5th book! This will be a nice addition to my library and a nice prelude to my trip to Paris next year.
As for my favorite flavor...god...it changes per season, but I always look forward to having pistachio- and horlicks-flavored ice cream!
Coconut sorbet - I love the smooth creamy consistency coupled with the little chewy bits of coconut

Raspberry sorbet would have to be my favorite.

"My favorite ice cream flavour is pistachio. Nuts and cream do it for me!"
I can't believe it's been 700 comments and no one's replied THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!
Vanilla bean (gotta have the little black specks in it!).
Elizabeth David's Glace au Melon de l' Isle St Jacques.("The melon has a strange, almost magic flavour ...")

right now, I'm really loving some rhubarb champagne sorbet. It's perfect for this time of year.
This set would be a perfect birthday gift. thanks.
When strawberries are in season, there is nothing like fresh strawberry ice cream.
Congratulations!
Man alive - hard question!
Favorite
Ice Cream: Coffee
Sorbet/Gelato - Lemon.
but I LOVED most the homemade mint ice cream I made from your book, and can't wait to make it again! So rewarding to make at home!
Congratulations on your new book!!!
My favorite ice cream favour today, is pistachio!
But tomorrow, who knows?
Vanilla bean with a splash of EVOO and a dash of coarse finishing salt. A simple canvas for the simply finer things in one's pantry.
Mint chocolate chip!
Chocolate sorbet and that is because of you! I totally agree that the true chocolate taste of the chocolate comes out this way. It has changed my life.
Mine would have to be mango lassi ice cream from jeni's in columbus, OH.
Mexican Vanilla.
I love peanut butter everything, so obviously peanut butter ice cream (made your recipe two weeks ago) is tops in my books — especially with the addition of anything chocolate!
Jeni's Black coffee ice cream, but if frozen yogurt counts you can't get anything better then her Lime Cardamom Yogurt!
Homemade strawberry ice cream can't be beat. It is truly wonderful stuff!
Aaargh, you have to choose just one?!!!! OK, and possibly only for today, I go for dulce de leche......
I have to pick just one flavour...erm...Salted Caramel!!! im hoping to buy the kitchenaid ice cream maker in a month or so and and first thing im trying is your salted caramel recipe
I definitely have to say your salted caramel ice cream. It's delicious, but it's the little crumbly melty toffee bits that make it unforgettable.
Coffee
I love me some espresso ice cream please. Congrats on the book, David! Love your site and writing.
Nai
Raspberry ripple
My current fav I just discovered at a shop here in SF: Secret Breakfast = cornflakes and bourbon!

Always Lemon.
Congratulations on the new book, David!!
Favorite ice cream/sorbet? It's probably a tie between raspberry sorbet and pistachio ice cream. Mmm....nomnomnom.
Coffee, coffee, coffee!
Lemon Verbena, and I'm truly enjoying your new book, David.
Hmm, just one, Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk.
(Second and third choices would be Baskin & Robbins Pralines and Cream, and Mint Chocolate Chip.)
(I obviously need to buy an ice cream maker and make some of my own.)
Pistachio, of course.
pistachio!
while i'm at it, just want to let you know i've made your banana cake recipe many times and i'm convinced it's the best there is, having strayed (pardon me) a few times to try others. also my bf has forbidden me to make anymore carameled peanuts (for now i hope) after the dose i made disappeared without effort during the weekend.
Hazelnut chocolate. Nutella anyone? Congratulations on the book. I can't wait to receive a copy.
Coffee ice cream, grapefruit sorbet (with a dash of gin)
Seriously, how am I to choose just one? Okay, today I am going to pick banana sorbet. But only if it's from that great little, all-natural, gelato place in Florence whose name escapes me at the moment. And only because I have not had the pleasure of tasting your Salted Butter Caramel. Thanks for the giveaway and felicitations on the book!
Lemon sorbet. Love the sour and tangy and sweet and cold.
Vanilla bean : )
Lilikoi ( passionfruit!)
Fleur de Sel Caramel!
Pistachio with shards of caramel and a hint of chilli. Just kidding. Vanilla of course.
Gee Whiz David, over a thousand comments! Greed wins!!
I'm really bad at picking favorites for something as vast and wonderful as ice cream flavors. I love florals, anything even hinting at caramel, toasty nuts, and fruit flavors the most. I guess it would be easier to admit that I am least fond of plain chocolate ice creams, but I love them, too. Just less than most other flavors.
I'm going to have to go with the first ice cream I ever made (I was 10):
LEMON - churn-free style, with or without a lovely raspberry coulis.
BTW... While typing this I just received an email update that Maine has just passed a gay marriage bill this morning, making it the 5th state in the union to support gay marriage! YAY!!!!
Is 11:24 a.m. too early in the morning to drink to that?
Cheers,
~ Paula
So many choices. I love every recipe in The Perfect Scoop, but my favorite of all time might be bacon ice cream. Or dulce de leche. no bacon.... yes really bacon.
Definitely raspberry sorbet!
Dark chocolate with bits of candied orange peel from one of the many gelato, I mean ice cream, places in Amalfi, Italy. Hope you get some on your trip:)
cookie dough!
Loved cookies & cream ice cream from the very beginning and still do!
Just 3 words: salted butter caramel. But the pink grapefruit sorbet I had at Bertillon a few years ago also set a new standard.
I do not like ice cream in general, but a good "mokka" or coffee/espresso ice cream can please me. On the other hand, I like a lot of sorbets! Especially champagne sorbet ;-)
Peanut butter with chocolate chunks! I am totally looking forward to the new book. Love the site!
Mint chocolate chip, with none of that nasty green food coloring.
Mango !
My favorite flavor of ice cream is caramel! Congrats on the book.
ginger.
or really really vanilla-y vanilla
pistachio.
roasted banana ice cream
Greentea!
Mango for me please. (Gelato Fresco here in Toronto makes a 60% fruit version that is awesome)
banana.
Favorite ice cream = the classic mint chocolate chip.
Me me Me me Me
Nutella, with extra salted chopped hazelnuts, and topped with a generous drizzle of caramel and a few grains of fleur de sel.
Top that.
Sooo hard! But, I'd have to say something with vanilla and caramel. I try to make my own, but if I see this kind of combo when out, it's mine!
Hooray! Congrats on the new book.
Meanwhile, I can never pick a favorite anything.
But for today, my favorite is... um... Vietnamese iced coffee. Thanks to you.
I like so many... but most of them are based in chocolate, so how about I keep it simple and say my favorite flavor of ice cream is chocolate (even though we'll both know that really, it's chocolate+any other number of flavors or ingredients.).
Cookie Dough
Mint oreo is my favorite ice cream. Mint chocolate chip doesn't do it for me, and cookies and cream is just ok. But ohhh, mint oreo is more than the sum of its parts!
Salted caramel.
Home made Ghirardelli chocolate ice cream from your Ice Cream book.
My favorite flavor changes weekly. This week, it's this fantastic Japanese coconut (with chunks of coconut in it) ice cream that my local sushi bar imports. So good!
By far, my favourite ice cream is your SALTED BUTTER CARAMEL that I've made myself on 2 or 3 occasions. I got my sister to send me real French fleur de sel just to be as accurate as possible.
Love your site and The Perfect Scoop. Will be picking up 'Sweet Life' shortly.
This week it is tiramisu ice cream.
Chocolate hazelnut!! yummy!!
Oh, and congratulations, again, on the book.
I almost assaulted my poor mailman for not having a copy on his person today. Where in the nuts is it????
Patience??? B*tch, please...! ; )
XOXOXOX,
~ Paula

Coconut sorbet, always.
Félicitations - le nouveau bouquin a l'air déclicieux!
Vanilla with a splash of espresso coffee. Mmmmmmm....
Plain vanilla, with the tiny black seeds of course. Miam !

My favorite flavor if i was forced to choose, would be burnt caramel from toscaninis in Cambridge
chocolate is also always good. and well... almost any thing really. cold ad creamy=really really good.
Chocolate Rasberry Truffle ice cream is the best!
Can't wait to read the book! Rocky Road.
Green tea
Vanille
My favorite is oatmeal raisin. Perhaps it's from my desire to mix favorite things or perhaps to make myself feel better for the indulgence. I entered it as a flavor when Ben and Jerry's was searching for a new one and while it didn't win it did suspiciously become a flavor soon thereafter!
Mocha Almond Fudge!
mint chocolate chip i.c.
Green tea. I recently tried Green tea w/black (?) sugar in Japan. Yum...
Italian Lemon...
Looking forward to reading the book
Each one has been a pleasure...
Tough to choose a favorite, but I'd have to go with Pistachio. Can't wait to take a look at the book!
Anything from Berthillon----but salted caramel ice cream or mango sorbet are my best of the best.
Look forward to reading the book
my favorite ice cream, plainly enough, is vanilla. although i once made a roasted banana ice cream (based on your recipe) and added cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and anise, and it tasted just like banana bread. mmm.
Strawberry ice cream and mango gelato
Espresso
Tough call between the amaretto chocolate chip and carmel sea salt at Pacuigo in Dallas, Texas!
Excited to read the book!

lemon, but that chocolate marshmallow would be pretty good too.
Chocolate chocolate chip!
Caramel! So excited for your book!
Congratulations on the book!
And, rum raisin; yum!
The best ice cream I ever had was dulce de leche in Estapona, Spain. My favorite flavor at home is gingersnap.
Olive oil and black pepper gelato.
Si bon.
I can't tell if this makes me sadly normal or slightly tweaked, but I love most the ice creams that taste of milks and creams that are no longer just milks and creams. To wit: sour cream, buttermilk, yogurt, creme fraiche, cream cheese, Creole cream cheese, and all the rest of it.
Most definitely YOUR cranberry-orange sorbet. Amazing stuff - it's tops!
Congratulations on the book.
Strawberry ice cream made with cassis. I make it every summer and could easily eat a whole batch myself.
vanilla bean
Your fresh mint chip with stracciatella! I just made it yesterday. It is soooo delicious. I knew it was my favorite after one spoonful from the freezer bowl.
Congratulations on the book release! Right now I'm pretty obsessed with mango lassi ice cream. It is by far the best result of my "pouring random beverages into my ice cream maker to see if they make good ice cream" phase. (The biggest disappointment is that freezing Swiss Miss cocoa doesn't make it any more interesting.)
My favorite flavor of sorbet is lemon - nice and tart, a delicious treat after a wonderful meal.
