    Bastard!

Whoops. Did I say that out loud?

    :-)

Hope you’re having fun—because if you aren’t, I’d be really happy to leave Seattle and take your place.

    Sigh. That’s all. Sigh.

    • Lynne Faubert

It’s freezing in Florida. Be careful you don’t brag other than visually, you’re never *à l’abri* from payback. Just saying. (BTW I’m in Montreal, so freezing is par for the course.)

    • Mary

David you take the best pictures! Have fun in the sun..
    Mary

    • michaela at TGE

    well, there’s always tequila.
    buenas noches

    • Mardi @eatlivetravelwrite

    Sigh. Have a blast!

    • Claire

I’m in Sydney, so the thought of wearing big jumpers and eating winter food is more appealing than a beach :-). Here it was 30 degrees at 11pm last night… Hope you defrost properly before returning to the snow!

    • june2

Woo hoo! You gotta do what you gotta do. Wise call.

    • Hannah

Envy. That’s all there is to it.

    • Bernadette

Enjoy it David! May I please have your flat while you are gone?? It’s 7*F here currently with the wind chill and a cold Paris has to be much better than a cold NJ!

    • marla (Family Fresh Cooking)

They both look fab!! Enjoy! Isn’t travel grand??

    • Chris

That Paris sky rang my chimes WAY more than the beach! Enjoy the warmth and sunshine.

    • Linda H

    Have a lovely time!
(11 below here this morning with 25 below wind chill!!!)
Twenty five degrees below normal, and “Normal” is bad.

    • Linda

Sorry David, obviously you are a wimp.

I’m Scottish and we can stand anything that you throw at us…bring it on. Snow, sleet, gray skies-it’s sublime …. we love it…..afterall we are meant to live under a mossy rock..sunshine is my anathema.

But, I get it totally…..wimp wimp.

Enjoy yourself – you lucky dog!

    • Carrie @ Deliciously Organic

Jealous. :) So missing the beach. Have a great time!

    • David

Bernadette: The morning I left Paris, it was -8º. And since my apartment is on the roof, it was only about 2 degrees warmer than that. So I don’t think you’d be all that happy in there right now. (I’m glad I’m here, rather than there, too!)

    • Kathleen

The Mexican photo could have been taken not far from where I live. And here I am wishing for a white Christmas. Buen viaje y feliz año!

    • Eden

Sometimes you just have to take what life hands you…. You have a tough life, David… But someone’s got to do it. Lucky!!! Do you need an apprentice?

    • Loulou

Well, we may be freezing here in France but at least we don’t have jet lag.
What? You have margaritas and endless guacamole to cure that?
    Ok, now I hate you.

    :)
Hope you have a great time!

    • A Paris Food Blague

Enjoy the sun….although I miss the snowy parisian rooftops, myself

    • BigDann

Just left Aix last Thurs and I couldn’t believe how wonderful the weather was when we left, the sun was up tho it was snowing in Paris.
We’re now back in LA and guess what ,its like being in Aix again.

    Enjoy the sun David..

    • Alec Lobrano

You lucky dog, and all of that delicious Mexican food to boot! Bring back a couple of cans of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, impossible to find here.

    • Eileen @ Passions to Paris

You know… I’d still take Paris.

    • A Gift Wrapped Life

I knew I was going to find some delicious new blog today……..and I did! Your blog is incredible and the photography most beautiful. What a great style you have.

    • Janet

Can you find any two places as different as that? I live in Canada and know about the cold and the snow. It’s a fact of life here in the winter, but doesn’t stop me from dreaming of a hot sunny beach. Enjoy.

    • Sheila Lynch

Ixtapa looks wonderful. How do you deal with jet lag? Do you have any secret jet lag remedies?

    • ChefDylan

I am I jealous… YES. I am bitter absolutely YES!

    Enjoy!
    :-D

    OH MY WORD AMI JEALOUS!

    • tom | tall clover farm

It’s 48 in Seattle now, and 41 in Miami, so I guess I can’t complain too much (at least not for now). Here’s to your R&R, and to the rest us, may this inspire us to plan our own vacations.

    • food lover kathy

They both look beautiful! What a life! I was expecting a pic of your new swimsuit, though (lol).

    • Maureen

    Buenos Dias!!
I ordered your book “The Sweet Life…” off Amazon because Tracy Porter recommended/linked to it in her blog and the samples on Amazon looked great but it hasn’t been delivered here yet.
But today I decided to make a Pear Tart because I’ve got a lot of pears laying around and I’ve never made a tart before ever so I went online to look up a recipe and, as they say, “Voilà.” So I’m going to try the tart and your blog looks every bit as inspiring as your book.
And just so you know, this is coming from someone who does not consider herself an accomplished cook in any way, shape or form….I so do appreciate the “in process” photos you’ve put up. It occurred to me that cooks like me need photos in books the way beginning readers need illustrations in Dick and Jane.
So anyway, have a great time in Mexico, both places look awesome to me. I live just a couple or so hours away from the Mexican border which is nice to go shopping every now and again, but let’s face it, the border towns do not resemble Ixtapa in any regard.
So have fun on the vacay, thanks for the blog/recipes and here’s hoping you run into Rick Bayless or something and get to pick up some mole tips as an added trip bonus.
    Cheers.

    • Maureen from Austin

Oh, me again (from above),… I think I’ll have to call myself Maureen from Austin because it seems there’s more than one Maureen who comments here. Sorry!

    • diana

Did you get any sand in your laptop when answering to Bernadette? Any sunburns? And spilled your drink on the keyboard? No? Not yet, I assume…

I’m almost in team tea-austin (the first to sharply express honest feelings)….

    • Tina

I’m in Adelaide South Australia, and with yet another day of over 42 degee C heat, just a little bit of snow would be wonderful. I’d even settle for a 20 degree day right now (plus ome rain – but that’s another story). It was so hot in the kitchen last night, I couldn’t get the ciecream maker to freeze.

    • Aknes

but the two are so wonderful!!!!!
    :D

    • Karin (an alien parisienne)

I’m chuckling at all the comments as I shiver in my Parisian apartment. You do have very witty readers and commenters, David! :) Have fun, please have a marg or three on my behalf, and here’s to safe travels for you. Enjoy!

    • Bernadette

I’ll take my chances, David. :) I’ll even clean up your apratment, if it needs it. . . sweep up the sand when you get back. I know you have ice cream in the freezer, too!!

    • Marcelo Martins

The Right on looks like my country… BRAZIL !!!!
    … the left on …. looks ” a litle” freeze…..

    All the Best !

    Marcelo

Wow, where are you in the 11th? Your view is the same as ours. That crazy Pompidou Centre with the ET behind it. The Bastille out the side window. I just learned that we are living in “a failed urban renewal project from the ’70s,” according to an article on the internet. If this is “failed,” I’d love to see successful. We pinch ourselves every day, we feel so lucky to have found this place for our 6 months.

And I love the Paris snow and not having a car or garage to clean it out of It’s only pretty till you drive over it. At our empty condo in Michigan there’s 6 feet on the ground..

    Have a great vacation!

    • mission dining table

I love the photos and the picture looks great! The weather looks nice there! I am still freezing here with all the snow.

    • Georgia (GeorgiaPellegrini.com)

What lovely pictures. Thank you for posting.
