Paris Booksigning and Get-Together

It’s that time of the year, folks. (No, not when I crawl out of my hibernation hole.) It’s the holiday season in Paris and I’m having a booksigning and get-together at La Cuisine cooking school. If you’re in town, stop in say hi!

There will be copies of Ready for Dessert, The Perfect Scoop, and The Sweet Life in Paris for sale, which I’m happy to personalize for you or for holiday gift-giving. Certain titles may be in limited supply, and you’re welcome to bring copies of books you already own.

I’ll be at the school Saturday, December 1st, from 4 to 6pm, which is located at 80, quai de l’Hôtel de Ville. Treats and so forth will be provided by the fine folks at La Cuisine.

Get-Together This Saturday at Sugarplum Bake Shop in Paris!

I don’t think anyone out there is more excited than I am for the get-together this weekend at Sugarplum Cake Shop in Paris! There’s going to be cake, cookies, and lots of other sweet treats to sample.

The event will take place this Saturday, October 22, from 6pm to 8pm. Copies of The Sweet Life in Paris, Ready for Dessert, and The Perfect Scoop will be available – Ready for Dessert and The Perfect Scoop will be the new UK editions – and perhaps a good chance to tick off a few gifts on your holiday list, too.

If you haven’t been into the Sugarplum Cake Shop, you’re in for an amazing time and it’s going to be lots of fun, and a chance to taste some of their incredibly scrumdiddlyumptious treats.

You’re welcome to bring already owned books for signing and for those unable to make the event, you can stop into the bakery beforehand and order a signed copy of a book.

Although the event is open to all, if you are coming and would like to RSVP on the Facebook Event page, that will give the bakery a better idea of how many guests to expect.

Please note that the bakery is open to the public until 6pm. So if you’d like to arrive in advance and enjoy the café, you are welcome to as a customer until that time. This event will begin at 6pm.

—see you then!

Paris Booksigning – This Weekend!

This Saturday (April 30), from 4 to 6pm, I’ll be signing books at WHSmith book shop in Paris.

The store will be open as usual during this event so there won’t be any long-winded speeches from me or anything (whew!) – so you’re welcome to show up any time and say hi, and get a book signed. Or just say hi! (And check out my new haircut nearly-shaved head…)

Copies of the brand-new paperback edition of The Sweet Life in Paris will be available.

There’s also a Facebook Event page if you’d like to RSVP but that’s not necessary. And if you wish to reserve a book, you can do so at the link for WHSmith below, by contacting the store by e-email or telephone.

Croissants and Pains au chocolat

I always thought that someone could make a mint opening up a good coffee place in Paris. Now there seems to be a few who’ve heeded the call: Coutume Café (47, rue Babylon), KooKa BooRa (62, rue de Martyrs), and Le Bal. Quelle difference!

And since this is the Year of Mexico, in France, a few new Mexican places have opened up serving authentic (or close to authentic) Mexican fare. If you close your eyes, except for the people speaking French instead of Spanish, the super-delicious tacos at Candelaria will make you feel as if you’re right there, in Mexico. And for those who like cocktails, the plain white wooden door in the back leads to a hip cocktail lounge. The Guêpe vert is my favorite, although this isn’t the place for cocktail-lovers who want a quiet space to sip their drinks. (Check out my post Mexican restaurants in Paris for a more complete list.)
