I try to watch him, but I missed this one! Just hysterical. I was laughing as hard as Sean Penn. Isn’t Bill Maher the funniest man in the world? And what could be more hilarious to make fun of than the current U.S. government?

I try to watch Bill Maher, but I missed this one. Isn’t he the funniest man in the world? He says the kinds of things many of us would love to say. (At my job here in redder-than-red Utah they would probably gasp out loud if I said some of this stuff.) I was laughing the whole time I watched it, thanks for a real giggle.

and…..French newcasts are not full of death, murder, killings, drive by shootings…you know…all the ‘positive’ highlights! They don’t have wacko’s that run around toating machine guns and killing children in school either. Vive la France!

Heelarious~! Even though the accent is on He, as in boy-centric humor. Still, though, super funny : ) Thanks!

I watched TV5 all morning. The result wouldn’t have been my choice but very interesting, nonetheless. I missed this Bill Maher thing. He’s always so good, isn’t he? Thanks for sharing.

    love it!

Well, I’m not sure who scares me more—Bill Maher (what’s with that hair?) or Nicolas Sarkozy (what’s with that hair?)

As I walked through the Place de la Concorde last night, which had turned into Sarkozy’s victory speech arena, I kept looking around at the cheering people wondering if they were about to get screwed by a candidate who promised ‘reform’ but instead get a few things they didn’t bargain for.

Being a critical time for France, it’ll be interesting to see how effectively he can implement ‘change’ around here.

And for starters, I’d like him to work on my bank…

    I loved that! Soooo funny!

Chilling article David. I think the only way he’d be concerning himself with your bank is if there were racaille there. :( It’s a long time to wait in between elections. Bonne chance.

Meantime, did they credit your account for the extra euro, or would that be even more impossible than getting change?

    i second that ‘love it!’

    Oh geez.

Bill Maher makes me slightly ill. Yes, his tirade is funny, and normally I support anybody who will expose the idiocy and hypocrisy of those excessively vocal conservatives in the US. (*cough* Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly *cough*) But Bill Maher is just as bad as they are, excessively hyping up a country just because Republicans hate it and because it would be “funny.”

What’s so bad about the French? Nothing…as long as you’re not Middle Eastern or African or Muslim. (Although even these problems disappear if you happen to win a World Cup and have “Zidane” as a last name. Well, sort of.) As bad as he is, not even George Bush has such a bad track record with immigrants in this country. It’s verging on offensive for Bill Maher to heap praise on a country that is infamous for treating its immigrants like $h!t. We’ll see if Sarkozy will change that image, but I’m not holding my breath.

The French health care system is not so great that the US should consider “stealing” it. It would not translate well to our population, which has a higher number of elderly/aging people. Like us, the French need to start focusing more on preventative and public health. I admit, their emergency services are probably better than ours. But whether their long term care is better than ours is debateable. It’s also hard to judge a health care system when your rankings are based on “consumer satisfaction” not just on actual health-based outcomes.

Bill Maher is funny, but, just like some of the more infamous conservatives in the US, he needs to shut his trap once in a while too.

In France we do not steal the votes from the black and muslim French: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/events/newsnight/1174115.stm

And if a French gets cancer and is poor, he gets treated, he does not need to pray and beg for the approval of his private insurance…if he is “lucky” to have one.
Bill Maher exagerated a little, but he has to, to be funny (remember, he is not a serious intellectual), and to forcefully crush the crazy conservative TV and radio pundits.

Uh, Sure, maybe France isn’t dependent on mid-east oil, but they do support many dictators in former French African colonies, keeping them in power for easy access to Africa’s natural resources. The African dicatators are fat and happy, the French are fat and happy, and the African people get nothing.
    France ain’t all that hot.
