Welcome to my world, girlfriend.

My Time Machine: A blast from my past, circa 1999.

Japanese terrorized by the Paris Syndrome.

A wine sale I missed.

And Americans keep asking me if Paris is safe

Cool (May 2006) coincidence (October 2006)?

I’m stirring the pots.

Does anyone want to carry around their kitchen floor?

(Thanks to Mark, Jenny, and Kate.)

  • You are making me late, David!

    1. I know why French PR people insist on lunch. Let me tell you about it. 2. That Paris Syndrome article has struck a chord in a strange way, it’s kind of sad in a way. 3. I know someone who was commissioned to go and bid for wines at that sale. Feelings of sheer wine lust took me over when I read about them. 4. That’s funny, my mother also asked me the other day if it would be safe to come to France in general. Now I understand. 5. Strange and slightly unforunate coincedence that also happened to Pim. Do you think that blogs are considered by some people to be something like unconscious suggestion? Not really there but there, well you don’t have to really acknowledge them anyway… 6. I am definitely going to miss my lunch date if I open up that podcast. 7. What an excellent idea! I have a roll of pure 100% rubber floor from Artigo in my cave. Perhaps I should bring it out and begin making sacs. A guaranteed way to get rich quick! Don’t you think?

  • I love this quote about the wine auction:

“Nearly 5,000 bottles from the vast wine cellar of Paris City Hall that went to auction over the weekend brought in nearly €1 million (more than US$1 million), far beyond expectations, the auctioneer said Sunday.”

The Herald couldn’t be bothered to look up the exchange rate I guess.

  • That is no coincedebce, You’ve been ripped off!

  • Thanks David! We’re cleaning up our look, whaddya think (spell check!)?

  • Hi David –
I love the idea of a rubber floor! Now if it was just fire and uh moron-retardant…
You’re getting some press out here in Portland OR:

I was sitting next to a woman in a bar tonight who turned to me and said “We’re going to Bologna for our honeymoon next year and I just found the best list of gelato places to try!” (hmmmm….)
    Cheers!
