Rue la la invitation

One of my favorite online shopping sites, Rue La La, frequently offers great deals on everything from All Clad pots & pans, Cuisinart and KitchenAid appliances, German and Japanese cutlery, Staub, Le Creuset, and Mauviel copper cookware – all at amazing prices! (They also have fine linens, designer clothing, tableware, and wine accessories.)

You never know what you might find and the specials happen daily – but the good stuff goes fast, so be prepared.

If you’re interested, here is an invitation to Rue La La, so that you can check out their great sales!

    David,

Welcome back to the states – hope your trip is all you hope for!

We have traded a couple messages re: signed books and I am glad to say that I think it is finally worked out……. YEAH! Celia at Omnivore Books has agreed to get a couple signed for me and shipped to me – I am very excited about this and am looking forward to adding The Perfect Scoop and The Great Book Of Chocolate (signed by the author no less!!!!) to my collection!

Wish I could come by the signing in person – it would be great to say “hello”. Oh well – I will just have to settle for the books!

I enjoy your blog and always look forward to seeing what food adventures you are up to – thanks for sharing!!!!!

Travel safe and enjoy your visit!

    David,
So excited you are back in the Bay Area, but thanks to FB and your website it feels like you’re still close. ANYway – I will be at BlogHer Food and hope to meet you before or after the keynote (maybe at cocktail reception?) I live amongst your pals Steve Sando and Terry Hall (name dropping!) but specifically am trying to redefine my niche in the blogosphere. Yours is the desired effect.
    Thanks and hopeful…KS

Thanks for the great recipes and funny stories. As an American wishing I were in Paris, your blog is a welcome addition to my days.

Any chance of a book signing at Powell’s (Portland) sometime in the future?

    Best,
    Julie

Ooh, good timing. I just got here in SF. Will try to stop by tomorrow if I don’t get lost! My copy of the book is all the way in Vancouver…dang.

Ugh! I wish I was still in San Francisco! I would have loved to meet you in person. I enjoy your blog and humor, immensely, and I admire your accomplishments!

I’ll walk down to Fog City News (two blocks). I’d love to buy you a coffee or something stronger, if you have a moment.

What a list of options! While I would have loved to be at blogher, I am going to be spending the weekend on the Russian River with friends. I look forward to seeing you at Omnivore. Soak up the coffee and internet while you can!

    David,

Looking forward to seeing you at Fog City News. I just delivered the Valrhona chocolate for sampling during your event. I’ll be picking up copies of Sweet Life for you to sign as gifts for a few of my Paris and food-loving friends.

    Safe travels,
    Deborah

Look forward to meeting my hero (i.e. — you) at one of these events.
I will probably be one of a crowd at BlogHer

Sorry I won’t be able to make San Francisco but thank you for the book recommendation– I just ordered it from Scribo(, qpprox. 27 euro, much better than Amazon)
God, can I use this book! Just returned from Paris and while I can certainly get by in most situations, restaurant menu’s put me in a near panic..they do seem to wax poetic with descriptions. Most notably at L’Epi Dupin, great meal, but really had no idea what was going to end up in front of me!

    Love your blog,
    juliann

MOST EXCELLENT!! I’m right down the street, next block. Will stop by tomorrow to reserve a book for myself, and look forward to seeing you next week!!

    • Sandra

Yummm! Check out Dopo on Piedmont Ave for great Italian food.

Hi David!! I am in the Bay area again, but in the North Bay. It would be fun to see you at one of the events! I just went to Fog City News this past Monday & it reminded me of you. Also just happened to pick up a copy of “Afar” magazine and smiled to read your quotes in one of the articles. (I had to read about ‘Becoming a Boulanger in Paris’!) Will try to stop in to Fog City News or the Omnivore Books.
    safe travels
    a hug from Charlene :-)

Oh I wish I could be home, especially now that you are in the Bay Area! I miss home so much :(

Maybe one of these times I will make a trip back to Sonoma when you are in SF!

    • Elizabeth

Any chance you’ll make it over to Berkeley?

    • Kerrin @ MyKugelhopf

Hey David, enjoy your trip and all these great events! Bet you’re thrilled to be visiting. It’s Street-Food Week on Gourmet.com, with a different city each day. Yesterday was SF! Just thought that would be fun for you to check out – and while you’re there no less. Enjoy !!

    • david

Elizabeth: I will be in Emeryville tonight, which is just next door.

hi Charlene: Glad you liked the story in Afar! Stop by if you’re in the neighborhood!

Julian: Yes, it’s a great book. Am glad the publisher is willing to ship direct.

Oh! Oh! Oh! What a treat. Hope I can make it tomorrow at Fog City. If not (and if I can’t swing any of your other local dates), my hope is still to wine and dine you in Paris for a meet and greet, and private signing.

    • Steve in ORD

Shall we look for you at the fair perhaps? ;)

    • pam

Any chance you’ll be swinging over to the middle of the country and stopping by Soddy Daisy, TN? Any chance at all? :)

    • Risamay

It was a pleasure to meet you in person. Perhaps I should have said that I work with Anita Crotty of Married with Dinner … Oh vell. I hate coming off as just another one of your no doubt many commenter-stalkers. Alas, I am also shy (and awkward) in person when I don’t really know someone. No matter! The plaisir was all mine. Cheers.

P.S. The chocolate shop that I insist you visit is VizioVirtù. I had the great honor of meeting both the owner, Mariangela, and her mother. Mariangela is an incredible chocolatier and I think you will be both pleased and impressed with her work when and if you do make it to her little slice of dark decadence in Venice.

I’m so disappointed that I won’t be able to come to any of your events because I’m still mostly flat on my back after spine surgery in August. I just finished “Sweet Life in Paris” and have dog-eared so many recipes. Having lived in Paris for short stints, the book made me so nostalgic. AND, you are the first person that I have heard agree with my assessment that the best tarte tatin in Paris is, oddly enough, at Berthillon – I’m dreaming of it now. I saw your quote about it in the latest “Departures” magazine about Paris, too. If you are down on the Peninsula, post it on your blog – I could make it to something closer to me! Have a great visit.
