Just announced—an all-new tour this fall! For one delicious week we’ll be feasting and tasting the best of France.

macarons

From extraordinary chocolate shops, to magnificent fromageries and bustling bouchons, this one-week adventure will be unforgettable! The itinerary is different than my Paris Chocolate Tours, so those of you who’ve traveled with me before, if you’re interested in coming along, we’d love to have you.

For this trip, we’ll be focusing on some of the other tasty aspects of Paris, including…

…visiting the best candy and pastry kitchens, and watch them dipping chocolates, piping macarons, and swirling sugar into edible confections.

…taking a market tour and having a hands-on cooking class from Paule Caillat in her professionally-equipped kitchen

…partying on Mort Rosenblum’s wooden houseboat in the Seine under the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower

pâtes de fruits

…tasting wine in a private wine cave with my hip sommelier Oliver Magny

…dining at the hottest underground supper club in Paris

…participating in a tasting of cheeses as well as Spanish hams and charcuterie, ending with the best Italian gelato

… pulling up to the table with Alec Lobrano from Gourmet magazine, who will give you a personally-autographed copy of his delicious book, Hungry for Paris

…and we’ll spend a special day in the culinary capital of Lyon, and visit (and taste) the best this city has to offer including an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Bernachon bean-to-bar chocolate maker.

You’ll be spending six nights in a deluxe 4-star Paris Left Bank hotel with all breakfasts, five lunches, four dinners, first-class train travel, plus guides and transit included. This trip is limited to 9 guests. (Note: There are just 5 spaces left.)

You have become quite the little culinary industry! How do you you do the math of nine people touring, but accommodations are based on double occupancy? Is it a metric conversion that I do not understand? About the only thing missing is one of Daniel Rose’s lobster rolls for an afternoon snack.

wow. that’s just about all i can. my mouth is drooling on my keyboard, my tummy is grumbling and even my camera is shaking in its bag. sounds like heaven. i am sure that those 5 spaces will have already been booked – by the time this comment posts ! and with good reason.

I didn’t know you did tours as well! Glad to know I have options for the next time I visit Paris. Do you also do personal 1-day or 2-days culinary tours? I am obsessed with patisseries, boulangeries, chocolatiers, and brasseries, but have a hard time dragging my husband and 2-year-old daughter through that exercise. But…if I joined a tour like yours, I can just leave them in the hotel room. Hmmm…good idea, perhaps?

Craig: I’ve been leading week-long tours for about 10 years, including Spain and Italy, but now mostly concentrate on France. The nine is based on the fact that it’s nice to have a single-person or two!

Jen: I used to do one- and half-day tours years ago. But due to the fact that it takes a lot of advanced planning to get into the workshops of certain artisans, I only do week-long tours, which allows us to get into places we wouldn’t normally be able to get in to.

What a wonderful idea! Wish I could go. Unfortunately at that time I’ll be in the middle of business plan season.

Yum. Sounds wonderful… we were just there for our 25th anniversary, though.

Oh wow, that sounds so fabulous! Why can’t this be for the week after? I get married on 10.31 and this would have made for a fantastic honeymoon…haha! C’est la vie!

I really hope that you will do another tour when my kids are a few years older! It sounds amazing!

Add in a falafel from that take away joint in the Marais and some old school onion soup, maybe from that 24 hr. “cochon” restaurant, and I would quit my job to be there.

I wish I could be on this tour with you, maybe next time. It reads like a perfect Parisian experience. And I’ve never been to Lyon. Special thanks for making room for singles on your trips. It’s a punishable and very pricey offense on nearly every other tour on earth. Like being unmarried is a crime you literally have to pay for, in more ways than one.

Houseboat question. I hope this isn’t Mort’s boat, insert giggle here. Have you ever seen the houseboat moored at Quai de Grenelle in the 15th? It is also right next to the ET and it’s blue and white. I forgot the name, but it’s a big renovated modern houseboat that rents out through the year. My friends wanted us to rent it for our last trip, but I was too embarrassed. On the lovely large deck there is a rather odd large party style hot tub. I simply could not “get on board” with hot tubbing up and down the Seine for the tourists of the world to see and likely take a souvenir picture of other tourists boiling themselves amidst the beauty of Paris. I simply could not taint the city with me and my friends bubbling under the sparkling lights of the ET! The debate whether to hot tub American style w/ swimming suits vs. the European approach of topless or even au naturel was enough to make me blush for a week. With youtube and flickr you just can’t bare yourself to the world like that anymore. At least, I cannot. I would love to see who would though ;-)

The rental listing is at parisattitude.com, as a four bedroom “apartment” reference # 800 if anyone wants to check it out. It would probably be a lot of fun to stay there while in Paris. I just don’t have the bod or the bravery for it :-)

Wow, does that sound like one helluva good time. Wish I could be one of the 9, but alas a visit to NJ is in order to visit my first nephew. :-)

Wow, David! This sounds amazing. I was just in Paris where I did pick up your book ‘The Sweet Life in Paris’ at W.H. Smith which I read on the rest of our trip (the Languedoc and Barcelona) loving every delicious page of it. Especially because I lived in France for a year when I was younger. It was such fun to read about your triumphs and tribulations as I remember my own quite clearly. Thanks for a great read. I hope to join one of your tours one day.

David, I’m so jealous of those lucky souls who get to travel with you on that tour. Glad you accept singles because there’re 3 of us are hoping to go next year!!! Love your new book (as always)!!! Are you coming back to the states for a book tour?

    • adrian

Hi David, is the price listed on your site somewhere?

    • Hazel

I would kill to do this. I would bring a friend who would similarly. One day, I will be rich enough to join you. Have fun…!

    • Amanda

    Oh
    my
    god

I think I would rack up as much debt as I needed to have an experience like this.

We’re already planning a trip to France in 2010, will you be doing something similar then?

    • Julie

I haven’t been to Paris in years and would be there in a heartbeat IF I had not been “upgraded” to find a new job. Am sorry that all my funds will need to stay close till I find something new. All my dreams of the patisseries will be done in my own kitchen… You have been so kind to give gifts of wisdom with macarons and kouign aman.. Have a wonderful time, I’ll be there in spirit!

    • Simon

Davis, I will be in Paris in early October, returning to NYC on the 7th. Do you have anything planned for then? I’d love to participate. Let us know!

    • Simon

Arrgh, sorry for the typo, I know your name is David, It’s these stupid new mac keyboards >:(
