Les Vacances

We’re packin’ up our Euro-skivvies and hitting the beach! I’m heading off on a much-needed vacation, a sunny escape from the mid-winter morosité. I’ll be checking in here from temps en temps and perhaps posting some photos of my fun in the sun, so don’t stray too far.
In the meanwhile, here’s a couple of things to keep you occupied…
The Times has come up with a list of the 50 of the World’s Best Food Blogs, and somewhere on that list, I’m on it.
It was nice to be recognized, but even better to be in the good company of many of my favorite food blogs and friends. Check it out, and be sure to read their interview with the über-talented Matt Armendariz of Matt Bites.
Speaking of talented friends, Molly of Orangette has just released her fabulous new book this week: A Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen Table. I was fortunate to get an advance-copy and loved, loved her well-written stories with recipes of a life that included stints in Paris, and beyond.
She’ll be criss-crossing the country on book tour, so if you get a chance, stop by and say hi for me! (Since somehow, they left Paris off her list of stops…)
Over at Tartlette, there’s a lovely write-up and recipe of my super-simple Chartreuse Ice Cream Profiteroles from The Perfect Scoop by Anita of Married with Dinner.
Yowza! When I saw Anita’s beautiful photo of the chocolate sauce cascading down the sides of those cream puffs, if it wasn’t for my concern over how I’d look in my euro-briefs, I’d be churning away right now. For now, I’m just going to have to enjoy the photos and wait until I get back from the beach.
And I will be back.
Maybe.
