Threading
Getting ready for my close-up with a complimentary ‘threading’ at Sak’s. Man, that hurt!
I was terrified I was going to end up looking like Lance Bass….I hope you all appreciate the things I do for you guys…

Martha Stewart Everyday Food

Today I’ll be a guest on Everyday Food on Martha Stewart’s Sirius cable radio channel, live from New York. The segment is scheduled to air around noon.

Good Food

I’ll be featured on Good Food with Evan Kleinman this Saturday, October 6th. The program airs live from 11am-Noon on KCRW in the Los Angeles area. In the segment, we’ll tour my favorite outdoor market in Paris which was (obviously) taped a few weeks ago, and really fun.

I can’t wait to hear it myself and see if they kept in all the goofy stuff I said, and you can meet Jacques, my olive guy!

If you can’t listen to it live, you can easily download the broadcast and podcast from their web site.

Becoming A Chef

And although I should filed under un-becoming of a chef, pals Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg featured me on their Becoming A Chef blog. You might remember when I interviewed the two here for their latest book What To Eat With What You Drink, which won the IACP Award for Book of the Year.

Not that I had anything to do with it; I’m just glad I didn’t hurt their chances.

Tune in!

You look like you’re sweating buckets!
    Tweezing…hurts so goooood.

I listen to evan kleinman and good food as a podcast from KCRW. In fact, if I was computer savvy or perhaps not still living in the ’90’s, I would have used your last word, from the last time you were on good food, as the sound my computer makes when it wakes up. Oy, I loved it. Can’t wait to hear the interview.

David, honestly, it’s things like your unashamed eyebrow threading that keep you firmly in the place of my Favorite Blogger Ever.

So when are you going to get a Brazilian?

    • Marvin

Cool, I will definitely tune into KCRW on Saturday. What exactly is threading anyways? Is that the same thing as waxing?

    • VeggieGirl

oooh, I will certainly be tuning in to the radio show, today!! yikes, that threading DOES look painful – haha, don’t worry, you could never look like Lance Bass, thank goodness ;0)

Hopefully your beauty treatment will still be in effect when I meet you next week…which, let’s be honest, was really the reason you got it done, right?

I agree you could never, ever, look like Mr. Bass.

I also enjoyed the interview you did with Jeremy Shapiro. It was really good, essentially because it was casual and you sounded very relaxed.

    Was that taped in Paris?

    • David

Threading. is where they take a long thread and wind it around your eyebrows to trim them.

It’s like having your forehead flossed!

It also hurts like heck and since they’re yanking mere inches from your ears, you can hear these horrible ripping sound as she goes (she kept telling me to stop wincing.)

    Haha! I love your primping!

It shouldn’t hurt! Well, perhaps if it’s your first time and the hair is longer and more stubborn yes, but repeat visits should definitely be much more bearable…. trust me on this. (And it’s nothing compared to bikini line waxing).

    Nice interview David.

    HMPH
    Union Square market is open:
    Monday
    Wednesday
    Friday
    Saturday
    More than a few days!!!
My fav market may not be undermined. since I don’t happen to live near the Olive Man and Marche d’Aligre..

    • David

another Catherine: I don’t think there’s going to be a ‘next time’ for the eyebrows.

And no way for that bikini line wax either…especially if they do they do those in the cosmetics aisle at Saks as well.

Parisbreakfasts: Yes, and I’ve been there each day!

I posted a link in the blog post to the web site of the Greenmarket, which lists their hours of operation. Concord grape juice rocks, by the way…

DAAAAAAMN I missed Martha’s show. Well, I don’t have fancy schmancy radio so I can’t get Martha’s show, so there you go. But how fun. Hey, what is she like? She would scare the hoo ha out of me. I saw her make a wedding cake with Julia Child on pBS, and got a headache from all the horrific steps requiring patience I don’t possess…
