Why do I look so craaazy? Oh right, David and Travis stracciatella ice cream sandwich. ;)

Totally off topic, and a bit belated, but I just made your easiest chocolate ice cream and it was delicious. I licked my plate. I licked my spoon. I licked the ice cream scooper. OMG. I’m making it again this weekend for my in-laws, but I’m doubling the recipe this time. Maybe tripling it.

sounds good, I record that show every week on my DVR. I’ll watch it and tell you what I think. I should make ice cream this weekend…

    • Ashley

Very exciting. Congratulations. Is it going to be on the Gourmet website?

    • Melissa

ahhhhhh…..I just watched it! You were great! It made me a bit ‘teary’, just having moved after 23 years in the City of Light. I miss Paris so much, but I still have a link to the best city and blog when I log-on to your site. Blogging isn’t a fad!
    Bisou!

    David,
Here is a question I’ve always wondered about and I hope you can answer prior to my investing in an ice cream machine. (I purchased your ice cream book and there are so many recipes I want to sample)
Are there differences between ice cream makers?
For example a $60 dollar Cuisinart and the $600 self contained Cusinart or the $800 Italian Lussino.
How do these compare with the commercial types like the Paco Jet that are in restaurant kitchens?
In the end is a rose still a rose and they all produce the same tasting product?
Thanks for your input on this David. I really want to buy something but I don’t want to waste money or “calories” on something that doesn’t have that amazing velvety mouth feel that only a truly great ice cream gives.

Cool, 1pm tomorrow? I’ll make sure to have it on. Looking forward to seeing you!

    • David

Hi Cheryl: You’ll find my advice at the post Meet Your Maker, in addition to the info in the book. Mostly it has to do with your budget, space, and how much ice cream you plan to churn up. And how often!

Brian: Thanks for providing the link. : )

Ashley: I heard they put Season 1 online (and available via podcast) so perhaps they’ll do the same for Season 2. I hope so!

David- I just saw you on TV! You were every bit as funny and clever as you are on these pages! It was great!

P.S. I would have helped you carry that big tub of chocolate, if I could. ;)

you looked great on todays show =) Very interesting and the ice cream looks delicious. They should keep you on as a continuing segment. Enjoyed it!

    • Cindy

I loved you on the show! Nice segment.

David, that window in your kitchen is awesome. It’s like you are cooking in a light tent with all that great lighting.

    • Spencer

Just watched the program! What a small stove you have in your kitchen!! I love the part where you’re outside…typing on your laptop, and the Eiffel tower is in the background. What a million dollar view you have!

    • Gail

All I could do was look for the oven door handle. It’s huge!! Michael, Carolyn and I all watched the program together; great show and you were at your funniest. Loved how you went out on the roof to show us what a fabulous view of Paris you have.

    • Ed

Hi, David: Just saw the show here in the NYC area. I thought you were great, as well as Pim! Your segment brought me back to my recent trip to Paris and reminded me how much I want to return. Cheers, Ed

    Hi David,
I’ve just finished watching your segment on Diary of a Foodie and i just want to say how cool i think it is to be in France, surrounded by the rich culture and endless choices of chocolat!
I mean, an egg & milk store?
I’m from New York but cant wait to experience that sweet side of Paris!

    • Mangaranon

I saw you featured in the “Diary of a Foodie” episode and that is how I found your blog. Congratulations. I will be following your entries.

Can you give me Chez Pim blog address?

    Thanks.

    • David

Glad you all the liked the program and thanks for your nice comments. I can’t wait to see it myself!

And you can read Pim’s behind-the-scenes replay at her site.

Hey, I also say Diary of a Foodie, with all of the other foodie bloggers. Your story is pretty cool. My cousin is a big fan of yours. It was very interesting.

You should have your own show about the food where you live, and some of your own recipes.

    • Katrina

What fun – I just saw the Diary of a Foodie and could not wait to read your blogs. You did a great job and it was fun traveling around the world with you and Pim and the nice man from Sticky Rice. I felt I traveled the world yesterday. Keep up the great work and keep doing a great job, because I am having fun reading about you “Foodies”!

    • Jessica “Su Good Sweets”

    Hi David,
Just saw you on TV. You were great! Now I know how you get those great pictures: use a monopod.

    • kirin

Caught you on PBS last week, great segment, you looked so cool, so continental, mais quand viendrez-vous chez nous? Vous avez beaucoups de ‘fans’ au Canada.

    Kirin in Montreal

    • Aimee Wheaton

WOW!! You are living the life my man!! So jealous of you living in Paris doing what you are doing. Just saw your segment on PBS today and I have to say it was fun to watch and I am truly jealous! I love Paris, croissants and dessert! Keep up the great blog!!

    • Kyria

I was so excited to see you on a diary of a foodie!!! You were great!!

Another one here because I saw the segment on the show this weekend. (WMHT in Albany-Schenectady, NY) It brought back memories of my trip to Paris, almost 10 years ago. From then on, I’ve said I’d go back just for the food! How can you go wrong in a place where you can eat pain au chocolat et orangina every morning for breakfast? Or a simple ham and cheese sandwich. Somehow, nothing in the states is ever as good.

    • Bri

David, I Tivo’d Diary of a Foodie and just caught it last night. What fun to see you and have your personality come across. Good for you! It will be interesting to see if your traffic goes up because of it. Congrats!
